My original motor option was the blue 480S. It blends in with the blue accents, but I thought the red 240S "sticks out" in a good way.

Edit- I haven't tested the 480S yet, but this 240S flippin' rips 35,400 rpm @ 6 deg of timing.

It's a very nice build. The red does add some era appropriate contrasting color.

My only experience with running LeMans motors was a long time ago with a very used up 240s motor. I was unimpressed but it was at end of life when it came to me.

These are the original truck wheels when I bought the truck. Wish I would've taken before pics because the before & after is completely night and day difference, but didn't think of it. Anyways, these things looked terrible, had yellow-brownish looking stains, a lot of old glue & leftover stuck on rubber after removing the old tires. They looked bad enough where I originally thought to just trash them. But with very low hopes and not expecting much, I decided to see how they would clean up. Gave them a scrubbing with Simple Green first, then a bath submerged in acetone over night. Pulled them out first thing this morning, rinsed with water and was blown away that they came out looking like this (last pic is with new clear wheel caps).

These will be the wheels I use when driving it. The brand new wheels in previous pictures will be for shelf-queen proposes.

Having to clean up glued wheels gives me an appreciation for 3 piece wheels. Those turned out nice.

Picked up some Schumacher Stagger Rib front & VEE 2 rear tires. These are mounted on the old original used wheels which I'll use when driving the truck. I also got some JConcepts Carvers front & Pin Downs rear tires to mount on the new wheels and use for when on shelf display. But after getting them, I'm not really feeling the JConcept tires and I really like the Schumachers. So ordering another couple pairs of the Schumacher tires to mount on the new wheels for when it's on the shelf.

Also set the NiMH battery in to see how it sits. As you can see in the picture, I had lower rear shock collars down quite a bit so the rear wouldn't squat a bunch. But it's still too soft. Definitely need a little bit stiffer rear spring for this unit.

Problem solved. I just realized my dumbass installed the springs wrong. The stiffer "gold" rear springs are at the front, and the softer "copper" front springs are at the rear

Original body cleaned, old decals removed and ready to remove old paint.... hopefully (fingers crossed). It has a few cracks throughout the body, but very thankful it's still in good enough shape to create a mold from.

Oh? What are your plans for the body?

Prep the original body so I can fill it with plaster to make a new mold. Then make new lexan bodies from the mold with a homemade vacuum table.

I've thought about trying that. It would be interesting to see your vacuum table setup etc if this works out.

Little over two years later, body's done. But need to order another decal set because I botched a couple of the stripe decals. Haven't painted a r/c body since '95, so not too disappointed with the turnout.

That turned out really well. Nicely done!

Thanks, appreciate that. Now that I got this first one out of the way, I'm a little more confident in painting the other couple dozen collecting dust

Is that the salvaged original body or one you made from a mold?
