I've thought about doing that once but I wasn't sure how well it would work.
Well, that was with a nice new body and this is a junker so I'm gonna go for it.
I could step out on the front porch, lay down a coat and quickly bring everything back in the house.
Thanks for the reminder.

Other than a couple minor details, the truck is finished. Here’s the chassis.
The Futaba s148 servo was included with the purchase, a new HW 1060 ESC, new Futaba clone Rx, and a new Reedy Radon motor. I think the Reedy is going to be more than I want for this truck but I’ve fitted my smallest pinion (8t) and I can dial-down the throttle high endpoint from the Tx to tame it as needed.
All bearings are Avid Revolution.

I had a very difficult time getting the Rx and ESC to stick to that Kelron chassis. I tried three different types of servo tape and eventually settled on some 3M foam core mounting tape – but they still don’t feel very secure. I don’t know if it’s a property of the material or the fact that the chassis was saturated with oil and some was absorbed by the plastic but a PO did have something CA glued to the chassis at some point – maybe he had problems with it as well. Anyway, If I have trouble keeping things in place, I could mount them to aluminum plates that screw to the chassis using the original battery post holes.

This was the most challenging RC body I’ve ever tried to restore. I was seriously considering tossing it in the trash at one point – it was bad. But I persevered. The new paint, glue, stickers, etc., were things I had on hand so I don’t have anything invested other than time. Anyway, I think it will be fine for a runner.

We’ll start with the good side.

I’ll just need to mount the switch and replace that Tamiya plug with a Deans T connector. The rear tires rub the body at full compression so I think a couple o-rings around each rear shock will fix it.

I’m very happy to add this one to the collection.

Thanks again to Jeff (GoMachV) for supplying the missing shock part. :D

Just one quick final photo before I close the books on this one.
I kept looking at it and thinking something's missing. Well, something was missing; the number plates.
What's a stadium truck without a number :?:

Anyway, I finally had a chance to run the truck this afternoon.
It drives and handles very much like an Ultima buggy - just as I'd hoped.
Lots of fun.
