Now, that's the real mystery...I can't answer that one

I was at RCGears tonight...first jump I broke a rear race arm

What...!
Must be something to do with the inconsistent print quality seen from Shapeways New York plant.
Can someone send broken parts back to Shapeways and ask if parts really represent their best know-how.
If so - I will find a better producer.

All my personal parts came from Shapeways Netherlands plant. They seems to know what they are doing. Parts are really good.
Just for interest I tried to break one replica front arm I used in race last year. I didn't have enough power in my hands to break it.
My fingers were sore several hours after bending the part several times in both directions full power... ouch...

All I can do at the moment is a small design update to arm geometry. Bigger corner radius in all inside corners.
It's uploaded to Shapeways allready.

Niki, we will be happy to send the parts to the big apple, do you have an address. I wonder if either Rod or I could pay you for some shapeways parts from you for comparison purposes? I'd love it if we could run this buggy for at least a few years instead of a total of 11 minutes so far between the two of us

Front arms like to shatter when you hit directly into a pipe (both replica and race). Rear arms like to crack in the webbing under the universal (both replica and race). Nix65651 hubs have been great. Nix63652 hub broke at the ball stud holes pretty quick (I think it's a shapeways plastic issue, more specifically the direction the printer head prints the part). Original rear arm mounts break when you tumble hard. New braced rear arm mounts have been strong. Front castor blocks, steering blocks, and front bulkhead have been strong and have not broken. Chassis's like to break where the back screw of the rear arm mounts tears through the carbon fiber.

How about arm design similar to this for HD runner use? This is B2 but same idea with Stealth geometry.

I will contact Shapeways and ask about the differences between NY and NL made parts.

Being a more solid mass, it should be stronger. Thanks for following up on the NY parts. I can't wait to hear what they have to say.

no solid piece please... I rather have some authentic looking beautiful arms that may break under extreme conditions...

Replica and Race versions are not going to disappear. Solid HD version will be added option.
I don't think solid version will be bad on track either as SLS material has lower density compared to std nylon. Solid arm will not weight as much as appearance would suggest.

I agree with Niki..I am in Europe also and my parts from NL seems stronger than the US version.
I cannot bend them and they seem much tougher than Vintage AE seems to have.

having just given my car a sound thrashing at our vintage nats, I broke nothing

all my parts are the "shelfer" parts, no race parts

but all my parts came from the Netherlands too.
