I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the B5m factory lite, I want to get this buggy off the title alone. Just something about a lightweight kit straight from the manufacture seems appealing. The one down fall is the smaller type batteries this buggy requires are pretty expensive.

turnigy nanotech a-spec 4200 mah shorty's are pretty cheap from hobbyking and a damn good battery.

in the past few years we've been adding weight, now everyone wants a lighter car.

SHORTIES AND SADDLE PACKS ARE CHEAP. like 20-40 bucks, at hobby king. Ran there trakstar 17.5 went up 2 more teeth, thing was still cold for 17.5, turnigy servo, and speed passion esc. I had the speed and power of everyone else last race day in amature. But my down fall is still getting back in, not enough wheel time. always the dumbest mistakes i make.

i went short cause most cars are now going that right. still have saddles which equal a square pack. use the saddles in other cars.

+1 on the turnigy trackstar 17.5, it's a bad mofo for 40 bux.
i've got one in my scorpion and it's a rocket.

i'll have to do a comparison with that and the tekin and lrp 17.5's i've got.

I've got one on a WGT RC10R5, it really do the job.
To me it's the same as a Reedy sonic 2 (but i never dissambled it)

almost done with the build. i'm taking my time with this one and enjoying it.
love the shocks with the x-rings, sooooo silky.

yes...i noticed the steering is backwards last nite. doh!

What is the thing with the new ballcups on the front steering, they have an angle? Why is that and would that be something "we" could use on a WOIN project?

finished the build over the weekend. i'm impressed with how little slop there is. it's the tightest ae car i have ever built.

my son and i are going to hit the track thursday for some practice, i can't wait!

I like it a lot. I've only got 2 practice sessions and one club race night on it.

on power steering is a new sensation to me! so fast out of the corners, carries a lot of speed.
rotates well on the infield, very well, I'm cutting corners faster and tighter then I ever have.

I'm still running a box stock setup other then pistons and oil, so right now just playing with ball stud placement, camber, and toe to find where I like it
before moving onto the shocks.

proline electrons in m4 on all 4 corners right now. of course once I get the car where I want it we'll be moving outdoors and I get to start all over.

I currently run Yokomo- BMax2MR and I also have one in RM configuration.

Prior, I was a dedicated AE guy (and still am, however) I recently couldn't pass up a deal on a Yoke and I have been quite happy.
Its coming into Outdoor season, so I look fwd to trying my RM car out on the dirt.

I currently race on indoor carpet, and the car is very well suited for that surface. Prior I was running indoor clay and I had used a B4.2 for a long time.
I've been very pleased with the Yokomo, the quality and parts are easily available (Amain) but between my 2 cars I have quite a few spares. I did pick up a B5M for a good price, and I want to make it into a "superStock" buggy for carpet.

I agree, the YZ2 is def. a very Specific car and not to say it can't work on other surfaces, but if you are carpet/astro or extremely HIGH BITE, its got advantages. But any car with a proper setup can be driven well.

I want to put together a classic RC10 Team Car for outdoor too.

I never thought I'd run anything other then Associated or Yokomo but the time has come. I wasn't going to race anything next season but scored a new H2 pro plus parts for next to nothing to race. Not a bad little buggy although it's still no Associated or Yokomo.

So this is interesting, I just finished building the B5M FL and thought to weigh it over my B5M and found a 64g difference. Yes I know my electronics are a little different but that should not be a great difference. 64g is nice though.

The difference means you could carry about this around on your Factory Lite to get it up to the other cars weight.

Just remember that lighter isn't always better. Traction comes from friction. Some of that friction comes from weight pressing down on the tire. "Modern" tracks are high grip, so you can get away with running a lighter car. Otherwise, you need to use softer tires to generate more friction.

That being said, a B5M FL is tempting.

For sure, but now I can place the weight where I need it. I recently purchased 4 digital scales to play with getting balance and weight distribution. I have done this with my FT B5M and it is dialled!

Keep in mind the FL is more purpose built for stock classes. I still intend to run it in mod, though the three gear is said to not work well, I can't see why?
