Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Wtf? This seems pointless. I remember Tim saying the US cases would be available for a while but how long was unknown. Maybe it's the cases that are discontinued thus no replacement for a complete kit?

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
I could see that. Since the classic kits were a limited run it could be that AE also did a limited run of complete stealth kits for classic owners that might want to upgrade. Of course not everyone who bought a Stealth kit used them on a classic but at the same time not everyone who bought a classic wants to upgrade it to a Stealth.scr8p wrote:...unless it's going to be something like the classic kit where they only made so many "kits" but the parts are/will be available separately.
From a business viewpoint it does make more sense to me to sell the Stealth parts separately than to keep producing an unlimited number of stealth kits for a limited number of classic kits.

I don't get it either. If there was only one part of the buggy that should always stay available and would keep on selling (even as separate parts) it would be the transmission! And preferably the so-called US version.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
I was told by someone at AE that the USA stealth case would be available separately but no information about how soon it will be.. Probably like mentioned before the complete transmission was probably a limited release to wet the appetite.. I would think the parts would all be available for a long time to come...

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
What was it available for, like 3 1/2 months....That's ridiculous.
Meanwhile they're promoting vintage.
It just doesn't make sense.
Even if they keep part support for years to come.....Why not have the entire thing available as a kit. At least have it available for more than 3-4 months.....
Or make it known, so people that want one that are putting it off, know not to put it off.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
FYI, you can order the Stealth cases from AE
http://www.teamassociated.com/parts/details/6564/
And stormer hobbies has the whole kit in stock
http://www.stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/seekpart.pl?pn=ASC6560
Part of the issues could because of issues with the stealth on the worlds. They had some QC issues.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
The stealth case in your link is the new updated case that comes with the worlds car. We are talking about the re-release of the old style case which came in the trans kit in your second link.

It's my understanding that they are the same case. Did anyone confirm that it is not the same case from AE? I was talking to someone else that knows a good amount about AE and he things it's the same. A while ago, when I was having some issue with my RE-world, I put my tranny on my Son's RE-RC10 and it fix. The only thing I had to do in install a extra space in the rear stock towers.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
As Scr8p said. It's well documented here the differences. They look similar, but the old original stealth case is the same as the trans kit came with (the "USA" case). The Worlds case has the spacers molded in, bracing, and uses a different idler.

There are TWO transmission cases, a new case and the original USA case. The two cases are VERY easy to distinguish from each other.
The new case has the ribbing and some internal pockets to improve how the case shrinks when it is cooling after injection. The new case halves are much flatter than the original and the spacers are now molded in as well as the cap. This was done just to minimize the tooling cost since it isn't really necessary for the WC. Also the new transmission case uses an updated idler gear that is more like a B4 idler gear, with the bearings in the gear and uses a B4 idler shaft but the idler tooth count is still the same as the original.
Lastly, both cases are available in spare parts so the oval guys have nothing to worry about (at least for the time being)
