Technically you are correct, although the funny thing is most of the old parts ended up together anyways which I'll probably build a 4th T2 out of (last picture). Although it won't be perfect it will still be a nice example.

T2 #4.....

This one isn't perfect but basically has 85% of the parts from T2 #2 and whatever left over parts I had. I'll just replace the chassis with a good used one and call it done (or anodize it blue)

Beautiful truck dude. I recently bought a vintage one myself.

#4 all complete minus battery foam. I thought I had one put away for this but guess I was wrong. All in all a very tidy truck.

Building quite a nice collection there! I only have one T2, but would certainly grab more if the price was right!



T3 and on simply do not interest me. I don't like a plastic chassis on anything larger than 1:16 scale. Maybe we'll see a T5 with alloy chassis soon!

Very nice collection of T2's. I'm still trying to get one of my own at a good price. Already had 3 slip from my grasp on eBay all because I got tied up with something else. Worst thing they have all been in really clean shape and sold for under $100.

Janaya - I bet two of those were ones that I bought. I was surprised how cheap they sold for, shocked actually, and that nobody bid on them.

I do. Only one shelfer in my collection, the rest all get beat on regularly

Juding by the prices they fetch, I'd say popular enough. Hard to come by a decent roller under $100. They seem to go the highest of the STs from original 10T through T4.

IMO, there's no appreciable difference between the T2 and 10T from a driving standpoint. Mine seem to perform about the same on the track.

Finding early proline truck tires with writing on one side is difficult. I've bought proline Edges in the blue boxes to find they had the new writing on them. Bowties first appeared on the T3 if I remember correctly.

Bowties first appeared in the T2 era, late 95 IIRC. I'm not sure about the T2, but they were the most popular kit tire for for GT's in that era, although I have seen many different tire/wheel combos in GT kits. I really think they just threw in whatever they had in stock at the time.

For good reason. IMO, they were the best "all terrain" tire available until the Caliber came out. Still a good option, though I find the Calibers preferable in almost all situations from hard packed clay to sand. Only place the Bowtie seems to do better is really wet surfaces, where the Calibers will clog up with their more tightly packed tread lug design. But then, in mud, I'd prefer a good spike tire or something more aggressive like the Gladiator or Dirtworks to the Bowtie.

Well, T2 was performing great today, right up until I broke the rear bulkhead (ball stud ripped out sideways). None to be found, either. But...........that's what I have a mill and a bunch of 7075-T6 stock for Kind of a challenging piece to machine, took about 3 hours.



Up and running again, don't think I'll ever need another bulkhead. It's 3/8".

36 grams. Quite a bit heavier than the stock plastic piece, but pretty insignificant.

Rear bulkheads always seem to be an issue for me, which is why all of my GTs are either alloy or RPM. I'm sure I'll snap ball studs on this one, though, which is why I slotted the ends of the shanks before installing.

Should have taken a little more time on the cuts to pretty it up some, but it was getting late, and I'd already killed one nice 3/32" cutter. You can barely see the bulkhead on a T2 anyway.
