Great work!\3D printing is insanely cool.

Transmission cases would be a good one,and front arms of course.
The upper decks are getting expensive,too.

The arms are design prototypes right now. The 3D printed suspension arms are just not up to the task of being actually raced. They would be subjected to far too much stress. The extruded ABS ones will tear and the powder/laser/resin type parts will crack or shatter.

I am looking at trying some stuff printed in Nylon next week. I am actually going to try a whole front XX Bulkhead and see what happens. It was easy to take my 3 part design and convert to a single part design again.

Retrofit fit transmission design is in the works already. That part can easily be adapted for 3D printing in my opinion. It is one of the most complex parts to make though. Got get things right or stuff doesn't work.

I have some more stuff already made that I haven't shown yet. Pictures soon.

Nice work! Can't wait to see how everything comes out. I really think 3D printing is going to completely revolutionize our lives in the next few years.

Yes, I agree it is the future for many things.

Tried to test some parts this weekend on the LXT, but the races got rained out. Moved the bell cranks that I had tested on the Jrx Pro SE the previous weekend to the LXT. I will probably head back and just run this week without a race and then race it another weekend.

Here is a shot of the build for the LXT. All the yellow parts are 3d printed Fluorescent yellow.

I'm about to buy a 3D printer. I want all the machinery I could ever need. I already have a 3 axis cnc. I need to build a cabinet and vacuum system for it though but I'm working on it. My pin router is done now too and my day job is a 3D mechanical designer so cad isn't a problem. I can't wait to build my own car from scratch at home!

The ones I have on the LXT in the picture are designed from the older style ball shaped shock mount. Though I have designed the newer style as well.

Finally printed out the whole XX bulkhead yesterday.

I am go to go test on track next week, but not real hopeful for its long term strength around the chassis and brace hinge pins. This is ABS as well, the Nylon might be better, I will try that at later date.

Still think new injection mold is probably the best answer for the future.

I am starting to print battery holders, the later version, for testing and I have a dilemma. I made it to match the original, which appears to have been a complete success.

It has the same problem as the original. Which after making mine I remember well. It doesn't actually fit the molded chassis 100%. This kind of annoys me, the screw mounting holes don't match up with the chassis. The battery holder needs to move about 2 mm forward but there is no room to do that. I can remember forcing the screws in there kind of sideways to start them years ago. Then I learned the trick was to put the screw all the way though chassis and start the screw with the holder above the surface of the chassis. But when it is all tightened down the holder has a slight bow to it.

It fits the graphite plate chassis just fine the way it is. Only the molded chassis has an issue. So here is the big question, do I redesign so it fits or keep it like original?

To be honest I am not even sure how I would redesign it and not make some compromises. There would have to less material around the outside of the two front screw holes to make it work. This could make the side walls fail easier when under stress.

remove the front 2 screw area (for me) most lipos dont fit without cutting it off anyways

I would leave the battery holder as is. It's not a huge deal and at least it will work with everything.

Any word on the reliablity of the xx front bulkhead yet?
