Re: masami '93 replica runner
dyed the wheels while i was searching the front diff replacements last weekend. it's already monday here
Reggie gave me a fine instruction for pink wheel dyeing. it had many steps between a few different colors. yeah, and it was too difficult to understand the process. and a friend enjoying this job gave me another instruction and it's not easy either. not like me, the wife seemed to understand the process. she told me soak them in a few different colors then take them out before the color goes wrong.
the wheels i got were slightly yellowed. so i make them actually yellow first then my baby daughter put her fabric stuff in the bowl and i put the yellow wheels in the pink bowl this time and the wheels i got had faded pink color. they really looked like used pink yoke wheels faded by sunlight yellow bowl again and one more time with pink, it got the results put used wheel dots, then cut the line i like them so far

Fantasic job on the dying of the wheels - it looks like you got a much better colour match to the originals than I achieved! The cutting-out & application of those wheel dots sure takes some patience!

Mine was too difficult I might be known for being overly detailed59burst wrote: Reggie gave me a fine instruction for pink wheel dyeing. it had many steps between a few different colors. yeah, and it was too difficult to understand the process.
My process was similar, just a ratio of raw dyes combined together in advance for a one pot method.
They look great! (I too hate these wheel dots)
Re: masami '93 replica runner
i believe it's not that difficult to find the parts except ZD-501, the front outdrives for large diff rings. you can go with standard 3mm pitch drive train without any problem with getting partsJ.M. wrote:It inspires me to chase down a 93-94 Yoke myself.
Re: masami '93 replica runner
i wanted to try your cutting idea Dan, but my wife and kids went outside after i saw them this
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=17274&start=80
so, i had to cut the dots myslef. just put them on the wheels, and followed the line with a snap-off blade. it's not a fine job like you did
two bowls with different colors actually came from Reggie's idea even my job was different. i wanted do with 3 bowls include orange or ivory. but i noticed the cans were empty

Nice, I actually like the orange-ish red color more than neon pink.
