Thanks mate, hopefully I'll be able to replicate at least some of your projects oneday.

My original Optima was converted into a Turbo back in the 80's after my younger brother bought one. When I finish off the Turbo project I'll definitely post it up for all to see, might even put some pics of the NIB Turbo up soon.

Another piece of r/c history in good hands! 8)

What's the plan for it?

I'm in two minds about wheather to build it or not, if I do I certainly won't run it. I really need to organise better storage and display set ups for my RC's.

I know that feeling. I have had a NIB Triumph for 1y 5m now but there has always been other projects on the agenda.

It's definitely a tough choice, not because of other projects but because once it's built it's not NIB anymore. Then again, they were meant to be built and driven and enjoyed.

Anyway, I took some pics of my NIB Trubo Optima as well.

Heh, I could say the same of the Optima and my younger brother could say it of the Turbo. Ahh the memories. :D

OK guys, I've been playing around with Windows Movie Maker and edited a vid of my Optima, check it out. I think it turned out reasonably well for my first attempt. :P

Thanks guys, I plan on doing more vids soon so I'll post em up when I do. I was happy with how it performed, new battery packs help.

Yea I think the yellow wheels really set it off with the box art type colour sceme. I think blue wheels would suit it well too. I think it needs a rebuild actually, got a couple mods in mind but it'll still keep the stock appearence about it.

I ran the blue Optima too but it was underperforming for some reason, might need a new motor.

Just while I'm posting this, got a couple questions.

1. I'm running a 15T pinion that looks to be the hardened steel type, but none of my allen keys fit it so it must be an imperial size, any ideas?

2. Any suggestions on where to find a replacement foam rubber seal for the motor cover? Most of mine need replacing badly.

Lastly, I received a message from Jon Miller this morning saying my body's (Optima and Optima Pro) were finished so I sent the payment off. Hopefully they won't take too long to arrive.

Don't try looking for NIP foam strips because the price you'll pay is asinine, and it might be too dried up to be useful anymore. I bought a large roll of door/window weatherstripping foam tape, it's about a half-inch wide and maybe an 1/8" thick, and simply cut thin strips with a scissors.

One roll should be enough for a thousand cars. Maybe a million.

I have both metric and imperial keys just because of this. A set with the four most common ones use to be kind of cheap.

Most common keys for metric:
1.5mm
2.0mm
2.5mm
3.0mm

Most common for imperial keys (metric in parentheses for comparison):
0,05 inch (1.27mm)
1/16 inch (1.59mm)
5/64 inch (1.98mm)
3/32 inch (2.38mm)
