Buy a lipo sack...The biggest danger with them lipos is fire...I am new to the lipo thing and am reading everything i can about them...Good luck at the racetrack and remember to keep the rubber side down...

Two Devil's Bowl bodies arrived today from McAllister. I managed to trim and mask one body in between turkey sandwiches. I thought I had a half can of black but realized I have a half can of silver.

I picked up a used $25 3300kv Reedy brushless motor which I believe is the equivalent of a 13.5 turn. Lipos and a can of black paint are next. I'll pick up the paint tomorrow and update the bomber thread.

Not a bad looking car Russ ty for sharing here.

I debated that body myself, but wasn't sure how it would fit the around the front tower...I'll be checking the bomber thread for the progress. Hope to see you at the track soon.

I modified the modified body. Hacked off the front fenders. I hoped the narrow nose would fit between the shock tower but it does not. IMO it looks pretty cool, appropriate for the bomber class.

How did you fair at the track yesterday? Did you get dialed in?

I found the gearing needed, and got it to turn in really good. It still pushes coming off the corner under power, but I'm almost there...It's a different technique than what I'm used to, so I have to train myself NOT to pitch it when I get to the corner. Also, I spoke to Butch (track owner), and the next race is Dec. 1 ....I plan on being there, for better or worse.

If you get a chance grab a little video. I'd love to see that thing flying around the track Lightning McQueen style!

Russ, did you go with a larger pinion? I recall your original setup was based on brushed gearing (81/18~20). I was shocked to hear folks are running 30+ pinions with brushless setups. That is larger than I run in the pan cars!

Rem, I use a Dremel to cut bodies.

I visited my cousins and life long friends a couple of weeks ago and about died laughing at the 1/1 gear ratio of their single cell 12th scales. I guess that's mainstay though. The only pic I got, not sure if you can make it out.

My original gearing was 23/81, but I had to go DOWN to a 20 on the pinion. I suppose that might change after I cycle my batteries a few times. They should get better, if I'm not mistaken. It was kind of strange mixing and matching springs and shock oils, but due to track conditions and modern tires, the old way of thinking doesn't apply much...but it's cool watching it pull the left front coming off the corner.

Rem - I use a dremel, as well...worth it's weight in gold.

Road course. They run close to touring car speeds, but a little more stable even with just the 2wd. Made for good racing.

The key with 1/12 pan car racing is to try to keep your speed up. Once to motor is "on the pipe" so to speak those things REALLY move. The WHOLE body is designed for maximum downforce. It's crazy how well they get around the track on a 1s pack!

I've seen them run before, with brushed motors and 4cell Nicd...some of those guys are really good. I'm sure 1S would be plenty for something that light...but with gears close to 1/1 ratio, I figure you'd have to push it off to get it started.
