Ed, inner rear hinge pins are 5,3 cm, just use the stock ones for the outer ones

By the way, which rear bulkhead do you plan to use?

Cheers,

David

Wow David, that was amazingly quick thanks, 5.3cm got it! I have an RPM Truck rear bulkhead on the rear as I'd like to do a super low profile body (I wonder where I'll get one  ) on this car. I got the idea from that German guy whose name escapes me who had a cut down chassis and truck rear tower on his RC10 giving a real mean look.

Do you think the truck bulkhead is the problem?

Cheers

Ed

It is siebenelch's car's low profile I am trying to imitate with a super low profile body!

It's in this thread and is pretty badass to say the least 8)

Cool aspirations ED, but I hope you'll take it further than a copy.
Now if you 'd use short and medium sized shocks with custom shock plates: so the shocks could stay under the roof in the rear. Mount them on the inner hole of the arms, with thick oil and stiff springs for to sustain damping and travel
Maybe lay down the shocks in the front...

(Better watch myself; don't want to start another build before the workspace is cleaned up)

Hahaha, I hope my buggy won't be a copy at all. I am using different suspension arms front and rear and am just following the use of the truck rear body mount for a lower body stance.

I had hoped to do something special with this car but you will all have to wait and see what that is because this car is taking a lot of time just to complete the basic mods...

just use truck (rc10t) rear hingepins instead of going through all the trouble...

Thanks Asa and scr8p. I just need to find some RC10T hinge pins now. Pretty gutted really as I just put a massive order in at Tower through Mrlexan and this could easily have been purchased from there!

BTW Asso_man! I measured the arms this morning and they are 60mm wide so I guess you meant 63mm for the hinge pins right?

I guess you should never measure things before breakfast I have realised Asso_man! must be right and have modified some junk hinge pins accordingly on my lunch break to the 53mm he specified! Sorry for doubting you mate

The hinge pins I had were all mushroomed at one end and no good for a regular RC10 but by chopping the mushroomed end off I could shorten them for this application. Though not perfect this will allow me to mock up the rear end and get the rear bulkhead to fit tonight hopefully!

So last night I got properly stuck into the build of this buggy. After work I purchased some more dye and came home for another dying session.

The first thing I did was install the modified hinge pins I'd made so I could modify the RPM truck rear bulkhead to fit with the narrowed rear chassis. This required dremelling into the back of the battery cup to allow clearance for the rear arms and to allow for full suspension travel. Once this was done and I was happy with the fitment, it needed re-dying as the cut away nylon was white.

I also dyed the front servo saver posts I made and re-dyed a graphite truck rear tower which was whitened by some scuffing.

This allowed me to assemble most of the rear end. I then got completely carried away and threw on pretty much everything I have to mock up how the truck will look. I won't write a spec as it's all subject to change but the pics (when photobucket comes back from maintenance) are pretty awesome if I do say so myself!

So photobucket has finished its maintenance and is back up allowing me to show off what I have managed to do so far.

I am really pleased because this car is made up of other peoples scrap parts and pretty much each piece has been, polished, sanded, cleaned, re-dyed, dremmeled or modified/fixed in some way. :D If this was cub scouts I'd definately get my Dremmel profficiency badge!

Have a great weekend y'all!

Nicely done Ed.
Not every "restoration" need a pile of NIB parts.

I love the "casually tossed in" electrics too.

So I got some rear shocks and a body from Asso_man and some HPI wheels from Didou.

The project is really coming along now, I just need to cut the body to fit the RPM front shock tower and also drill the rear wing...

I am also waiting for the tranny and so it can't be let rip just yet!

I am super stoked on the massive mix of clashing colours!

How nineties... Actually the pink and green complement each other. 8) Siebenelching the body?
