I blame the bosch colt router. It's small but crazy powerful. I have it turned down in the video and its like butter!

It's an awesome router. I highly recommend it. I use the same router in my 2' x 2' 3-axis cnc router. After seeing this thread I am adapting it to a small old Craftsman router table that the router is long gone from. I made the adapter plate today and it already has an arm with a pin going down so I should have a working pin router soon too. I never built the cabinet for the cnc since we moved into this house a year ago so this will be a nice way to make a few things until I get the big guy running again.

Nice! I saw a colt on close out today at Sears out of the box for $60 and almost grabbed it as a backup I don't know if its true but they say they are near spindle quality precision, which makes sense if they use the on a CNC. One thing I didn't like is the play in the base where it clamps to the body, but I was able to tighten it up a bit and now all is well.

My old pin router was on a plastic table with a geriatric router and a split style adapter for the 1/8 bit- and it still turned out some pretty decent copies. This is a 1000% more user friendly and oh so much quieter.

The clamp adjustment isn't used when it's on my cnc. I have a machined aluminum mount that secures directly to the body so it can't move at all. It is used to machine wood, plastics, and composites and is great for that use. Metal would require a much slower motor with far more torque but the machine can do it. It can even accommodate a plasma cutter or water jet but I am setting it up for wood/plastics/composites only since the entire base/ mounting structure would be entirely different.

My fixture was custom machined specifically for this router to adapt it to a Torchmate 2X2 cnc. I'll try to take a picture of the fixture tomorrow.

I ordered the 1/8" collet and now have my router adapted to the table. I just need to get the pin done. Sorry I have taken a picture of the fixture that attaches the router to my cnc yet. It is currently in my garage attic and being in Houston it is very hot up there! I'm to lazy to go up there right now. I'll get to it one of these days.

AHHHHHHH!!!!! I thought I was good to go. I ordered the wrong collet! I ordered the standard Bosch collet and not the Bosch Colt collet. The wait continues...

I just dropped off my sketch up drawing of the new pin head assembly for my machinist and in a few days I should have a better and more precise arrangement. Pics will follow
