you shouldnt need to cut up the rear bulkhead to run a lipo, I fit a 5400 Checkpoint in my stock bulkhead just fine. BTW, I have never seen an allow rear bulkhead for the RC10 series (buggy or truck).

That brushless combo will be very fast - it really depends on your budget and need. For racing, that combo will put you in a modified class, you would need a sensor based 17.5 to run stock (and some tracks beginner/novice also). For speed runs up/down the street or local park (or where ever), the 3900 combo will be just fine.
