there's honestly nothing that bothers me about building an rc10. maybe removing and deburring all of the plastic shock pieces from the tree they come on. but even that........ it is what it is.

I've found that I hate dealing with bodies the most. The trimming, masking, painting, etc... I seem to have the hardest time getting the body post holes in the right spots. To be fair though I've never had the right tools for the job. That would probably help.

- before the build- waiting on parts to arrive.
- one minute into build-instruction manuals printed in 10 languages.
- one hour into build- pizza delivery is late.
- two hours into build- running out of beer.
- throughout the build- constant interruptions; ol' lady, kids, phone, dogs, etc.
- end of build- realizing I want to make changes or upgrades.

after spending a fair amount of my free time deburring the output gears today im sticking with my first opinion.
frankly id sooner rebuild a dozen traxxas 2.72 transmissions then that hateful little 6 gear.

I agree. The rc-10 body is not marked well at all for trim lines. luckily the jrx-2 is completely marked out for mounting spots and trim lines all the way around. just another reason it is the better buggy.Lowgear wrote:I seem to have the hardest time getting the body post holes in the right spots.

Re: RC10 assemebly . What do you hate the most ?
I really hate masking and painting any body; everything else is fun IMHO
.
A couple of comments:
1. The bottom loader shock seals are much easier to assemble if you have the correct size snap ring pliers.
2. A small punch is your best friend when it comes to the axle pins. A drill press with an appropriate sized drill bit chucked upside down work great too for the really stubborn ones.
3. I honestly like the "rough" quality to some of the parts in the gold pan kits. It's from a time when modeling and mechanical skills were required to build a great performing hobby quality RC car. Many of those skills seem to have been lost in the RTR world we live in today.

The part I hate most is having your fingertips so raw the next morning from turnbuckles, tiny allen wrenches... etc. You think they'd callus over after 25 years!
so 25 years and they still dont callus? well then i dont look forward to the 13 years

really i enjoy it all! even the frustrating moments and sore fingers. shoot last night my exacto slipped and i cut my leg pretty bad. grabbed a tissue and some electrical tape and kept on plugin! tomorrow im walking to the track at 6 in the morning even though i know ill get rained out. its just rain.

Next time just pinch the cut together and put a bead of CA glue across it! Good to go, no joke, that's what it was made for! Quick repair on wounded soldiers!

Re: RC10 assemebly . What do you hate the most ?
Speaking of making body post holes, how do you do it with an already painted body? There was a topic started on here a while back about a new product which contained LEDs that slipped over the body mount posts to guide you. Other than that what are some methods?
