1/8 eBUGGIES, need opinions

i have had excellent luck with all the other hw products i own. hopefully this was a fluke.

i ordered a tekin rx8 / 1900kv combo to hold me over.

then when the hw comes back i'll have to get another 1/8 vehicle. lol

well after another $400+ spent on friday evening i was able to race it on saturday.

i had alot of fun. i started the day geared 19/46 but dropped down to 17/46 due to heat.
car was strong all day. ended up qualifying 3rd and finishing 2nd.
only issue was a slightly bent front bone at the end of the day. i had so many cray cart wheels' over the tripple that i wasn't suprised i bent a bone.

Bumping an old thread now that I started the build of my own RC8Be. Echoing what Kaiser said when he started building his, I am of the same opinion. Wow there are a lot of bearings. Jeez, this thing is built to withstand a missle strike. I will post pics after tonight's progress, last night I only got the front bulkhead and diff assembled.

hey flip, make sure you lightly sand the diff housing that faces the big outer gear (the mating surface), they tend to leak.

thats what was appealing to me. I'd rather watch my daughter running her slash and rc8be than having her sulking while I wait for parts to fix it.

Do you have a pic? Where the two halves come together, and then which area(s)?

where the paper gasket goes. sand the edge of the housing where it would make contact with the paper gasket.

Such a fun build and beautifully engineered car. Here are some pics of my progress, with FT steering knuckles and rear hub carriers along with RPM front and rear arms substituted at time of assembly.

Very nice! I have one of those too, just haven't found the time to work on it. Been sitting here since June.. It's an MP9 TKI converted to BL/Lipo.

Bump for this old thread because I'm finally on the cusp of getting my RC8Be running. I have the Tekin RX8 w/2050kv brushless system sitting here on my desk at work, I can't wait to get home tonight and get it hooked up! Got a 4S battery the other day and bought an iCharger 206b to handle larger cell Lipo charging a month or so ago.

It's been a rough patch for cash outlay to get to here, but I can't wait to drive this freakin' beast. I'll report back with impressions!

good time for a bump. i'm going to run mine for the first time outside this year on sunday.

i broke a rear chassis brace @ motorama in february, that should be in this week.

i'm running a slick set of SWEEP's "square armor" tires. my rc8be is still 99% box stock, 1/8's are so damn fast all i've done is messed with droop and ride height.

my brand new jconcepts punisher got ruined in my first practice run @ motorama so i'm running the stocker for now.

You updating it with a metal or the plastic rear chassis brace? I put the FT metal ones in mine front and rear.

Im hoping to get mine running soon too. Just need a lipo and servo to get going. Oh I am going to run a Castle Monster and 2200 kv with stock pinion and spur

sticking with the plastic braces flip. my non-educated opinion is that by it breaking my chassis didn't bend.

i'm not easy on my buggy at all.

Worked on it last night for like 4 hours, sheesh!! Took a long time once I soldered up the wiring on the Tekin RX8 and motor, and then spent well over an hour trying to get the STUPID #$@#$@!$!!! wire snaked through to the receiver box. I'm not sure whether to blame Tekin for making it too short or Associated for making such a long and ridiculous path over the river and through the woods.... err.... over and under the battery tray, over the center drive shaft, under and into the receiver box. I tried so many combinations of the esc to get the longest possible wire length to reach the receiver and it just barely makes it but I had to turn the receiver on its side to get a straight shot into the plugs.

So that was really frustrating. Then I got to experience the joy of fitting a pinion and motor into the motor mount on an RC8 chassis and just gave up and took the center gearbox out to get full access.

By this time it was 11:15, but I got her all back together, and then proceeded with the setup on the RX8. Luckily everything went very smoothly, adjusted the setting for my 4S lipo, added some neutral brake, and took her outside at 11:45 to drive in the street, LOL.

Holy........ It's loud (32 pitch gears I guess?) and blisteringly fast. I think after work today when I drive it my neighbors might bring their dogs and small children inside. Suspension must be way too soft because it's rocking back and forth like a drunken sailor under braking and hard acceleration.

I can't wait to see how long tires last especially driving it in the street....
