My thoughts are turning to how to power this thing. I have a nice LRP Sphere 7.5 combo that I'll drop in but LIPos are a different matter.

I have TracPower sticks for my cars at the moment so I'm going to need some saddles, which ones fit best and how do I retain them?

I remember once upon a time you could buy LiPos with faux battery bulges for location, is this still the case or do I need some sort of tray?

not sure about the lipos with humps under them, but maybe a B44 Lipo tray set will work well to retrofit?

I have individual nicd cells for a couple of my cars, but if I buy some lipo saddle packs, my plan is to build something like that, out of fiberglass.

I have been running IP4200 lipo saddle packs and dont have any special mounting system. I did however double side tape a make shift barrier to the chassis to prevent the saddles moving into the spur etc..

I'd go with some purpose designed items like that for the B44 above.

Thank you Sir, I live just down the road from Fibre-Lyte, I think I might pop and see them to see if I can get them to sort something that I can mount using existing post holes.

Have you gone to Fibre-Lyte yet? Just wondering which top plate they have fits the 870c? It is hard to tell from the website.

Haven't been yet but I think all the top decks they have listed are for 91 onwards, have you checked DW911s for sale thread? he had some nice Strates YZ10 top decks with all the fittings for sale, got one for myself for this build 8)

Unbelievably I've done something

I notice that I hadn't posted any shots of this car with Jake's awesome spacers, so here it is with it's perfect track width and 2.2 JC wheels :D

The next job was to swap out the chassis for a decent used Works 91 version to enable me to run a Fastrax shell and undertay I picked up a couple of years ago. It also opens up the options for other body choices.

Next job is to fit the A&L steering.

Then I need to address the ride height, these Strates shock towers don't seem right :?

Looking great! It has been a while since you posted a build. What towers are those?

Strates, I think that's the correct spelling, same as the chassis brace.

On the issue of fitting lipos (saddle or stick)

Good ole Demon Power Products do carbon fibre bars which you can
stick under your lipo to fit in the slots. They are cheap and a good solution.

I like it Mark! Beautiful craftsmanship. :) I have a couple of those Fastrax bodies too. Love the look.
I believe the company name is simply Strate Racing. I have some parts from them for an Optima Mid.

I'm on fire

A&L steering done 8) swapped the rear Strate tower to the front and put a new standard tower on the rear, test fit of some TRF Aeration dampers.

Body and undertray initial fitting.

So I need to finalise the fitting of the shocks (this might mean some custom Fibre Lyte towers), tidy up the body trimming and send it off for paint, whilst that's happening I need to be fitting my LRP 7.5 brushless set up and other electrics.
