maybe not too soon but that 22 looks real cool.. if people stop buying b4s and losi wins alot more races im sure the b5 will be made

I think it might depend on how well this new Losi car performs. If Losi starts winning major races, AE won't sit idle for very long. Winning cars sell better.

You mean like the ROAR 1/10th Off Road Nationals?

Really, why doesn't Tamiya release the Avante and Losi release the 22 on the same day. That way there is only one argument with the wife. Let's just get it done and over with. Congrats to Losi for coming out with a fresh design!!

"Dyno" Dan Hissim laid mouse to monitor on this one, however a ton of feedback was given by TLR Catergory Manager Todd Hodge, Jukka Steernari and many of the team back at the Losi offices, including our team drivers as well as lots of feedback from our UK partners. Dan did a great job of putting all this feedback together to help create this car. It has been fun watching this car come to life but rough when we had to "bite" our tongues during the bashings

Kudos to TLR on this one, Rich. In this day and age of iPhones, camera phones, Flip video cameras and instant access to everything on the internet, Facebook, Twitter, etc. It's absolutely astonishing that this car was announced to the public and NO ONE really knew it was coming, or how revolutionary the design is.

I'm downright shocked that this car hit RedRC 4 days ago and I had no idea it was coming.




That's virtually impossible to do today. Impressive from TLR, to say the least.

Can I fit this transmission on my 5-link X2? :

Rich, has the diff been revamped in this new buggy or is it still a XXX design?

Also, are the ballstuds and wheel hexes metric along with the rest of the hardware?

Everything on the car is new except the spur gears.

WOW that buggy looks great, I was starting to get worried that Losi had given up. It's a kit to boot as well! This is really cool that they are recognizing that there are still enthusiasts out there that like a "pro Kit" and enjoy the build as much as driving! Sweet, can't wait to see how it does on the racing circuit, just wish we had more track here in Montreal. Still gonna get one eventually though, looks like fun to build and drive.

I love the irony that Losi, who have *never* had an aluminum chassis (on an electric buggy at least), return to alloy before Associated, for whom the "gold pan" is near-synonymous with their company and product, at least in the minds of many folks (and certainly many folks on this very board!).

*Now* I understand why it took so long for the XXX-SC to come out ... it seems that the brains at Losi were busy on a more compelling project, and one that will likely serve as an important template for future TLR products. In light of the fact that this will undoubtable spawn the next generation of Losi stadium trucks, the recently-released SC model is almost immediately obsolete!

Question: In a rig as small and light as a 2wd buggy, is there really any appreciable advantage to the large bore 1/8 scale-sized shocks? I noticed that the new 1/10 Schumacher (and maybe Kyosho?) buggies have been sporting oversized shock too ...

I know many say that the bigger shocks keep the oil temps down and the oil viscousity stays more stable. Might be something to it, after all as it seems to be the current trend.

What I think the advantage is with larger bore shocks, the larger you make anything, the easier it is to have better and finer tolerances. Springs can be made more consistently, pistons can be more detailed (with more design potential), rods can be beefier, you can have less foaming in the oil around the piston, etc. I don't think they perform any better necessarily, but like going from a Delta/CW shock to a touring car shock on an oval car, you have a much wider window of acceptable performance. I think it will be easier to hit the setup correctly with big bore shocks.

I have been saying for years, the next major technology leap for RC racing will be in shocks (pistons, compression, rebound adjustable) to make them more like a motocross shock. The reason "flexible" chassis are still used in R/C racing and nowhere else on the planet for any other type of racing, is that the shocks suck and you can tune a car with a flexy chassis. No chassis should flex at all. That tells me that the shocks are not in step with the rest of the car's performance.
