The axles are Associated B4 rears and the CVD bones are custom works wide CVDs.

I plan on staying with the original design on the rear. I will be milling a flat spot on the axle for the set screw to lock in place.

Well after some serious time in the garage today, I was able to machine the parts for a functional one way front.

I finished up the axle with 4/40 threads for the nut and machined two new hubs to accept the one way bearings. I wanted to have four bolts holding the wheel on the hub so I drilled the additional two holes in the hub and the JC racing wheel.

Everything works great. I am super exited about this car. It may take a bit to get the driveline completed. I spent about four hours today on just the left side alone. It was alot of trial and error getting everything to match up. I have the majority of the parts completed for the right side, but I still have the complicated parts to finish. I like the look of the SS 3mm screws in the wheel but I have some button head screws if I decide to change it. I may also run a nylon nut on the axle so I don't have to worry about the nut backing off.

I bet you guys think I am nuts for including Standard and metric screws ond nuts on this car. It is what I have at the house and I have already spent more money than I care to mention on the car.

Here is a comparison of the old on the right and the new on the left. I was able to keep the same width as the original with the new parts.

To be honest, have no formal training at all. I bought a chinese bench top lathe and mill about 3 years ago. I started screwing around with them and eventually learned what worked an what didn't. I guess I really started getting into work about a year ago.

I still have a ways to go and I learn everytime I run the machines.

The machines are very tricky to use but i have figured out the weakness of each machine.

I really wish I could afford better quality machines but then again, there are alot of people who would love to have the same tools I have, so I am not complaining. Thanks for the comments, I have a couple more tricks up my sleeve for this car so check back often.

No, I got these wheels from JC Racing on eBay. They have a different offset from the regular 870C wheels. The wheels are nice and should hold up great. I want o buy another two sets so I have a few different sets of tires to choose from.

Great machine work! I'm looking forward to seeing how this car progresses & ultimately how well it performs on the track!

If it turns out anything like your RC10s Bigjeepzz, this is going to be a 'belter'!

And I thought those spacers you made for me were great! Nice job! As you said, I wish I had access to a CNC mill...I'd be making hard final pinion gears and maybe an original wheel design, probably. 8)

I got the front end pretty much finished other than my front shock tower. I am waiting on my material to come in so I can cut my towers. The CVDs have been pinned and painted black. I finished machining some turnbuckles out of TI I had at the house.

The car did not come with the post for the driver steering arm so I had to make one. While I was at it I machined a new steering post for the passanger side as well.

Everything is still in the mock up stage so things are still greasy from running the machines. I have a dialed racing aluminum bulkhead which will be installed on the final build.

I hope to get started on the rear end very soon so I can get the car standing on four tires. Hopefully my CF panel will get here soon so I can knock out my towers, chassis, and upper brace. I still have quite a bit of work to do but it is coming along.

I got my Texalium panel in for my towers and chassis. I gambled and went with a company I found on eBay. I wanted a 12 x 24, 2.5mm sheet which would have given me enough material for two complete cars. The panel arrived and is 3mm and slightly warped. With the problems in the panel, I will probably only get one complete car out of the stuff. I figure it was worth a shot trying some of the eBay folks for CF.

I just cut the new tower for the car and got it mounted. The tower is about 1/4 inch longer than the stock tower to keep the CVD angles from getting too crazy. I am using the longer front shocks from the later RC10 buggies. I get full compression while keeping good CVD angles.

Jay Dub, thank you for the information on the shock towers. You really helped me out with the info you gave.

Reggie, thanks for the long talks about CF as well. I really appreciate you helping out.
