I emailed and never heard back. Hope to find a complete diff and pair of shafts for my fwd, turn it into a 4wd. I'd even take plastic, its not going to run. If u know anyone that has upgraded to metal let me know:-)

Hey Jason can you clarify something for me. Looking at the picture of the box it says 2WD but the car looks to have front shafts? And the description says "Two four wheel drive".....what does that mean?

Hi Romulus,

Saw your post and thought I'd chime in.

SG simply used the same image for both cars. As for the other question, perhaps the just used a sticker or mark to block out the non-applicable car version.

The "2" is a sticker over the 4wd. The "two four wheel drive" is just poor wording. The 4wd was first and they simply reused the box for the rwd and fwd versions. The sticker saying it comes with the improved steel gears and bearings is the one you really want 8)

Finaly got some paint on to my shell and here's a quick snap taken with my I-phone.
Darn that paint scheme was hard work. Could have almost given up many of times over the three very late nights it took me to knock this one out. Certainly not perfect there are a few small bleeds  Certainly not perfect box art but I went with a few chages to suit my own taste.

What I find truly interesting is the fact the lexan shell that comes with these SG cars is infact not that pictured on the box (with black wheels). The box art shell is actually an AYK 566B Super Trail shell. For the longest time I thought they were both one and the same but to the careful eye they are infact different. No doubt TAG/SG borrowed the AYK shell for preliminary shots then opted to design (closely) something to look similar.

Now I need to find myself a repro 566B shell to paint up ;-)

Jason that paint is smoking hot! What a great job on a very unique car. Are you still planning to dye the wheels? Personally I prefer the white nylon, I think it compliments this paint scheme very well - but to each his own.
You should be proud! The only thing I've managed on my car is a set of new tires.

Thanks Gary
Yeah the kit tyres didn't really appeal to me but I would love to know what tyres were on the box art car.

Can you post any pics of your project up here?? Happy to see others up here too.
