when i was buying some pans for the powder runs i came across some bannas i like the big hammer blocks of hard wood tecnique i made a block out of soft pine the shape of the can and put a slight concave in it in strategic areas with the D/A sander then took a large block of iron wood and had some stress relief fun the slight hollow in the soft wood alows the pan to be stressed past where you need it

yeah, try to straighten it out. with your talents and tools at your disposal, it shouldn't take much.

a press is ideal, but hammers, vises, blocks of wood, and strong hands work just as well. my 'junkyard dog' build was pretty whooped, especially the nose plate, but I got 'em back to pretty good.

I was looking at how bad the tub was last night. The problem area is up in the front of the tub. I tried a little muscle last night but didn't really commit since I was tired. I will throw it in the "possible tub" pile that seems to be growing. I have a few more options.

My RC10T donor came in and is in really good shape. I wasted no time tearing it down and getting started on the buggy. I milled the nose plate excess off and got some of the plastics cleaned up a bit. I am using the nose plat and the 10T bulkhead and the steering parts from the donor buggy. I am also using a set of my arms I machined a while back with a set of TI nose tubes (I have them, might as well use them. I also put a set of my center drilled axles in the car as well. I had to drill the front steering blocks to fit the new axles since they were the older hex style.

I got the font end mocked up for now and have a few other tings left to do. The biggest thing is making a brace that will also serve as holding the front part of the body. I like the clean look of having the front part of the body attached to the car and with the 10T shock tower, the only way to do this is cut the front of the body off and come up with a way to fasten it to the car where it stays on during race day.

Once I get everything fabbed up, I will tear the car down and do final cleaning/whitening to get most of the nylon to match one another.

Enjoy the pics.

Here is what I did to the front.

I turned a peice of aluminum down into a brace. I milled the back side to give a flat edge and drilled counter sinks into the front. I milled a set of posts out of nylon to fit the brace. Threaded it 4-40 and threw some button head screws in. It holds the front piece very snug and it won't fall off.

Don't mind the burrs, they will be removed for final assembly. This was kind of a pain in the ass to make but once I started I didn't want to give up. It really makes a difference when you see the body on the car (that will come later)

That is really cool how you attached the front of the body. I might try to copy you, if I buy another body.

Progress has beena little slow since I have been busy traveling. I was able to to get the tub trimmed up and made the mods I needed to. I was also able to get the nose plate and motor plate machined as well. I made the first set of turnbuckles for the car and got them installed. The white plastic has been treated and now match the nylon arms I have for the car. The white balls cups I am using are JConcepts.

I have been thinking about the steering and unless I can find a set of white bell cranks, I may just machine my own. I have some bearings that will work great on a custom set if I decide to go that route.

I want to stay with the white theme on this car so I need to find some fiberglass sheet similar to the shock towers to make the tranny brace and the tub braces I currenty have mocked up on the car. I hope to have the rear mocked up pretty soon. Once I have everything built the entire car will be disassembled and cleaned up. I will also send off the tub at that time for anodizing. Enjoy the pics.

Thanks guys. The tub is going to get some old fashion jeweling done to it prior to anodizing. I need to set up my mill and then go throuhg the tedious process of jeweling the tub. It will be pretty time consuming but should turn out really nice.

For those of you who do not know what jeweling is. I did this back in the day when guns was a big hobby of mine (still is sort of). I borrowed the pic from the internet.
