Yep, new or like new, to fit within the look of the car as a whole. There won't be much on the car that looks like it is 25 years old on it when it's all said and done. Thanks, though. That's the one.

I see the difference now. Mine says "1985 World Champion" on the label. Must be an earlier model..

Essentially the same motor—different label. Not a lot of stock motor technology creep in 1987.

That's what I thought. They look exactly the same except for that single digit.

Got my motor. Going with a mod instead.






Now, to get those Kyosho Golds...

That looks like a re-badged Kyosho LeMans 240S. They were good bitd, and massaged by Trinity I bet they were the cat's meow.

Edit: the 240s was about $35 at the LHS fyi. Nice profit margin for Trinity.

Yup, other than the orange anodizing on the can, the same motor base with a Trinity hand-wound arm. They were killer back in the day. Gil Losi had one in his 1985 World Champion Yokomo. One guy had one at the first indoor carpet off road race we went to and we were completely shocked how fast his car was.

I have never been a huge Trinity fan, but these motors in this era were über impressive on the track. I was running Trinity stockers at this time because of this motor. I'm honestly pretty surprised at how cheap this motor went for last night. I must have been the only person paying attention when it ended.

Project update for today. Got some temporary electronics in it for now, including an original Tekin ESC and a Wimpy stock motor until the Trinity arrives. The NOS S132H will stay, as it was what I used to use in my cars. Thorp steel turnbuckles have been added, though I need to finish the rears. The NOS nose tubes, wing tubes, chassis brace and servo mounts are courtesy of pancar Tom (thanks!).

Really sorry for the ridiculous harsh sunlight and abrasive shadows. I don't normally shoot in the morning sun, but I wanted to get these up today to show the progress.

Oh my, that is tasty! Congrats on a fabulous looking car. The good thing about morning sun pictures is that they reveal all the flaws - and these reveal - nothing!

Thanks! It's been fun so far. Too bad the market asking price of Kyosho Golds is so outrageous.

You know, the funny thing about the sunlight is that is exposes all of the minute differences in the whiteness level of the nylon parts. The rear tranny brace was NIP, but had severe UV degradation. When it was put on the car for test fitting, I was shocked at how white and bright the rest of the car was comparatively. A few rainy days on the porch (there is still UV out when it is overcast), and the new parts are just as white as the rest of the car. The peroxide trick is awesome.

Yeah, i've got to try that peroxide thing out. i bought some but the sad part is I'll have to tear down a car to try it. Space is limited at the moment so i'll probably have to wait.

what esc/receiver are gonna be permanent?
