Along with everything else, this little gem was a welcome bonus! This is a Tamiya Acto-Power TRF-Tuned motor... and I know they must be rare, because I had to look it up to find out what it was!!!

Certainly, it needs a bit (read: a LOT!) of a clean, but it's rarity alone makes this the needle in the large pile of needles  . As a comparison, a new rotor (armature) for one of these sold recently for almost US$50, and there's a new can up for sale currently, with a price tag over US$80... and that's the only two items I can find on eBay!

Much better day  :) 8)

That is a rare find indeed! I was always curious how they anodized two colors on the end bell. Must have been expensive to do so. I haven't seen very many of these around. I would like to see it restored. :P

In all honesty, I was never going to bring it back to how it should be.... so I threw it back up on eBay on it's own. Did pretty well, too, which was pleasing.

Luckily, the car it came with (Tamiya TA01/02) still proves a great source of parts, as tearing it down showed it had been built with full bearings and an alloy motor mount... expensive upgrades back in the day.

I agree; that's a pretty cool looking motor. I don't know this for certain but I believe that the end bell is semi-finished on the CNC, then it's anodized and returned to the CNC for a final selective skim cut to expose the bare aluminum. Maybe the finished part is clear anodized - not sure about that. In any event, the two-tone ano is almost certainly a more costly process overall.

Yes the final machining is done post anodizing. I highly doubt it is reanodized after.

A derelict in need of some tlc.
The road tires are interesting - never had them before. I want to build something to run around the church parking lot.

It’s the graphite parts for a 1/32 scale RC10. I posted a few months back a miniature RC10 created by Nigel - search NRC-32. Nigel did an amazing job designing and building this fully function 32 scale RC10 replica. It’s an awesome project. I have been collecting parts to make one. Fibre-lyte still makes the chassis, shapeways many of the plastic items, Other parts come from the Losi Micro-t. I hope to post the build in the coming weeks.

Hey Mark, I heard a rumor there is a cheap knockoff of the micro T now. Seen it? Search LT832T on AliExpress....around $28!

This is interesting -- I've not seen this before.
I trust they didn't find any Mexicans or explosives -- or exploding Mexicans...

But seriously, everything looks fine - they're doing their job.

Received this body and wing from Penguin today
P1010449.JPG
He shipped it in a "Squashies" gum box so, of course, the postman squashed it.

Fortunately, everything appears to be okay
