Unfortunately someone converted them to nitro and hacked both the motor mounts. Still, I'll be able to make one good runner with plenty of spares.

Today was a good day. Piece of history here. A little cut up but mostly intact. These were designed by Leonard Wood of the Wood Brother racing. I’d like to find a piece of it that is signature worthy and send it off while I still have that option.

Very cool! Been a NASCAR fan since the '70's but I was not aware of any Wood Brothers connection to RC. I know that many professional race drivers have had some experience with RC (Lewis Hamilton is the first name that comes to mind). So who manufactured this car and can you tell us more about it??

Nice one Jeff! Where did you get it and what year were those made? I'm guessing late 80's, early 90's by the look of it and the extensive use of woven carbon. Is it a prototype or a released kit?

I didn't buy anything for a long time, but I couldn't resist this awesome Protech I body painted by Louis aka UltraHive. Every detail of it is mastered and I love the Curtis Husting inspired paint scheme!

The manufacturer was TRC which I assume means composite craft made the carbon parts. The diff and nylon/delrin parts I’m not sure. RC10Resto has a thread on here and Bob Stormer has a good post on it showing the ad car. It has a Dynamite .12 engine on it, so it is later that I thought as well- should put it later 90’s I would think.

That body is awesome you Asso! The shell is pretty cool too!

On that LW, what do the turnbuckles in the very rear do? I may be overlooking something obvious, but from the way that middle pic looks I can't imagine what they would adjust on a straight axle car. Very cool!

It's a watts link. Keep the rear centered in the chassis.

That's a new one to me, but I googled it. Pretty cool. Thanks, I learned something new today, which probably means I forgot something else. Only time will tell what that is...

Yup if you consider the solid axle is just like a stock solid axle car, the watts link and side links provide the best articulation with the least compromise. Pretty neat.

A big box of parts showed up at my door today. This was part of what was in it. There was a bunch of parts that I couldn't i.d. I'll post them in the "what is it" thread as I sort through them. The 3 edinger packaged shock bodies are the early lighter gold ano. I don't need this many of anything so a bunch of this stuff will soon be on the market.

Just differential gears I thought were made of unobtanium for my vintage Tamiya Newman Joest Porsche restoration...from the land of the rising sun.

A nice heap of ancient junk, (It thought it could sneak away into American landfill, but no, been tagged and now destined for major rebuild and a new life in an Oz forest!
I thought it was a Cougar from the ad photo but it's a somewhat different breed of pussy I think. Any ideas?
Some parts required, mainly suspension parts like ball sockets and turnbuckles. I need to get another of those nice big fat wheels/tyres (VEE-2 they're marked) for the Wombat Forest.

Rear tower and bulkhead seems to suggest it's a Shotgun. By eye, it seems to have the older rear arms; you can confirm by checking the size of the rear inner pivot pin - 2mm pins for Shotgun/Cougar series, 1/8" pins for Cougar 2 / Storm series.

Up front, the tower is neither Storm or Shotgun stock tower... could be an intermediate varimount tower, although they generally didn't have body mount holes on the top. I'd guess tower is a Cougar 2 version, with holes drilled for the front body mounts (originally mounted to the truck front bumper.

Not having shocks makes it a little more interesting...

My guess would be it's a Shotgun by birth, but somewhere along the way, there was a fairly major front end collision, and the original owner managed to break the front tower and bumper... and when they went to get a replacement, they got a "Schumacher front shock tower". Could also have caused the loss of one front wheel....

Nothing you require is particularly difficult to procure ( ), although an original Shotgun body might not be worth shooting for. You'll want to get rid of the Kyosho MSC and second servo, and at the same time remove those home-made sheet steel servo mounts .

No idea what that lump is in front of the front shock tower, though.... GPS locator, maybe?
