I used Alclad II Chrome lexan spray for the hood grills, and then sprayed the black backing on too soon, or while the chrome was still wet, that left dark spots in the top left corners of both grills. Didn't want to have to mask that all off and respray the chrome and black again, but I can't leave it like that.
Have Tamiya Polycarbonate Paint remover, and will wipe that Alclad II and PS-5 off of the grills and do them over in SpazStix.
The Alclad II did pretty well on the bumpers and window trim, hoping the SpazStix gives another look to the hood grills, to set it apart from the rest of the bright.
Tamiya Polycarb Body Cleaner smells like the most toxic poison, it bubbles and wipes the PS paint away like it was never there. Took me over a month to get that little bottle for some reason.
Got the most basic wheel well cuts done, barely wide enough and tall enough to fit the wheels. Need to match the movie car wheel wells as best as I can, by trimming from here.
I know it's a little early to tell, overspray film is still on, but is there a noticeable difference in the bumpers vs the hood grills?
Or did you use Alclad on the hood as well?

Chuck
I originally used Alclad II on the bumpers, window trim, gas cap, and hood grills, and then had to redo the hood grills, I ran out of Alclad II by then, so I wanted to try Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome and Spaz Stix black backing, to see if there was an obvious difference between the two.
With the overspray film on still it's hard to tell, but it looks the same to me as the Alclad II did, perhaps more reflective. I'll finish trimming the wheel wells, and paint it PS-5, then peel it and compare.
Hi, joined the forum specifically because of your build thread, love the work you’ve done on recreating this car and I’m planning on making my own as always loved the Dirty Harry films and remember going to the cinema to see The Dead Pool when I was 16.
Do you have contact details for dhawk that you could provide as I’d love a set of the wheels you got him to make for you, tried contacting him via eBay but had no response yet.
I noted earlier in the thread that you’d love to have the original body but had little chance of finding one, well that is no longer the case as you can now get the Parma corvette body as they have just started being remanufactured, I’m picking mine up tonight and will post pics. I’m in the UK and I’m getting the body from Lee at L&L models, I believe he has four more in stock.

They aren’t listed yet but should be shortly. I gather they will be reproducing a lot of the old Parma bodies.
Really appreciate you taking the time to join and post here, this is a great site isn't it! And thanks so much for the kind words. I was able to collect the data for my build, from all the excellent TDP projects that came before mine, here on this site; I wouldn't have even tried this without this thread in particular, from @littleVETTE. https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=25010
You were very lucky to be able to see The Dead Pool movie at 16! It was rated R and there was no way my Mom was taking me to see that, you must've had some cool older siblings, or friends, at that time .
The only way I saw The Dead Pool RC vette, back in '88, was the trailer on TV, and I had to sit there and wait for that brief moment in order to get an eyeful - and the vette only appeared for a short amount of time - that's all I knew of any of this movie, and the RC, until my late 20's. But I never forgot it.
RC Vette appearance at 0:27
For the DHawk wheels, I was able to PM Jimmy (DHawk proprietor) through the ebay sellers questions (thanks to Frankentruck for that tip). Perhaps try contacting Jimmy regarding the specific auction below - those are the Dead Pool wheels, but with the offset made for the Dual Sport, or DS, and these were designed for stock DS rubber tires. https://www.ebay.com/itm/135286789190
But If you were to ask Jimmy about those wheels above, and mention The Dead Pool wheels, and the correct offset that's needed for the buggy instead of the DS, he should know exactly what you mean. You can also mention my name, which is greenbar0n on ebay also, and attach this pic with your question to him, he should absolutely respond. I had to prove to him that I was very serious about this, and then he made it happen.
It's so crazy and timely that you posted this. I am so ready to get back to this project and finish it. Will do the Bolink 63 body in my interpretation, and then do a strictly movie replica body with the Parma. So stoked on this, you've made my year, sir!
Again, thank you so much again for taking the time to let me know! Please make a thread for your TDP project here, would really appreciate seeing your build and following along with it.

Apologies for the tardy response, been an unexpectedly busy week at work and didn’t set up notifications so didn’t check to see if you had replied
Thanks for all the information, gratefully received and will try again to contact Dhawk regarding the wheels. I’m still considering whether the to go with a more accurate replica or more modern under pinnings as have a set of fan rc parts with carbon towers etc I could utilise, depends on whether I decide to run it or shelf it I guess. I Will create my own build thread when I get a chance to capture those decisions and progress.
Getting into the cinema was a lot easier in those days at least over here in the UK, if you looked old enough to the 18 year old ticket seller then you were good to go!
Anyway to the main part, body turned up & looks great!

That body looks right! Just contacted the email address you left, hoping to get (2) if they have them.
Definitely looking forward to seeing what you end up deciding and building.
Thanks again for letting us know The Dead Pool body is for sale again!
Will cut out the wheel wells tomorrow, and paint it PS-5 Black, and PS-31 Smoke for the windows. Going to try Liquid Chrome pens to see how they work for the outside details.
Reset the Kydex front bumper in order to put the body in the correct position and location for the Parma shell, there's a slight difference between the Bolink body that was fit to the bumper originally. Took quite a bit of time to get things lined up.
Slow and steady wins the race, when cutting these wheel wells out, a ways to go still on the first one.
The new Parma body is larger in every direction, than the Bolink body is. The Bolink more closely resembles the fit and shape of the HPI '67 Vette, the Parma is a 1/10 Touring body, strictly. As a result, had to remove the side wings/body mounts, need to refit them to the Parma.
Also need to adjust the front camber to 0° for the foam tires.
Got all the wheel wells cut to the bare minimum. This is always the hardest part for me, as there's no adding the Lexan back on once it's cut out, and making any cuts always takes me forever to decide on how not to ruin it.
Will use the Dremel drum shaped bit, to get the well shapes ground and smoothed to match the movie car. Have to do that bit outside today.
