This is a really fun thread to follow.
I have a question though, wouldn't it be simpler to take all of the ignition components out of the car , as in the model rockets, and just have a battery to power steering and brakes?
Or is there some kind of rule for speed runs that prohibit that?
Keep up the great work!

Thanks...
The ignition components don't weigh very much...I am not sure the rules on the speed runs...the 3s battery in this is lighter than most batteries of any size...I want it all on the car for a complete package...just throw an engine in and go

Thumbs will post video.
Made a safe test run...had some issues...
GNSS is hard to use, keeps losing Satellite signal...so i don't have those numbers yet...still learning that thing...anyway..
Rocket mount came loose, steering setup was off, hard to drive straight at beginning of run, brakes failed...it did run 62mph as predicted...I fixed all issues except the gnss, that's gonna take some playing around with....next run will be a very powerful Aerotech F67 that only burns for 1 second...need it to cover 132ft in 1.3 seconds or less to get the record
Teaser pic: "at the end of run as it's ejecting the engine"

Apologies for the delay. I been drinkin'...
I think those Cox brothers are a bad influence. They regularly post photos of their totally awesome projects and I have seen bottles of alcohol in the background. What with that and their recent pyromania streak....You'd be wise to steer clear of those boys. At least until the smoke clears. Then head on over and do it all again!

It sorta seems like that is an integral part of this awesome project.
