Looks a lot like a McAllister Roadrunner but has some differences. Not sure if there was more than one version of the Roadrunner like there was for the Wildcat.

It doesn’t look like it’s made exclusive for the Scorpion. But if you should use it with the Beetle tub-cover it might be made as aftermarket body for the Beetle

I think no HPI. Never have seen those before, but somehow reminds me of Stevens & Son or MK-Engineering.

Good deal on the auction. I was ready to BIN at $150, then saw it closed at $100. My two favorite buggies, the RC10 and Scorpion. In fact, the only buggies I own. Granted, I have a lot of RC10s

I'm anxious to see both before and after!

Judging by your post I would surmise that it goes to a Kyosho Shelby Cobra kit....

Likely the nostalgia series on the pure ten chassis, look at the bottom of the first pic in this auction.
