They don't sell a rear wheel that would work with the 12mm hex rear in that offset. I think it would add to confusion as well when buying wheels. It's already bad enough with the 1/4" and 3/16" offerings

When I saw the pics of this car, I thought about the Ten4 project... Then saw the title of the thread today...

It's always disapointing when there is a rip off of a design you took time to do... On the good side, you may see it as a form of appreciation of your work. On the bad side, it is a steal, and it hurts*


(*: and yes, I know what it feels, as I know exactly who bought the Shogun/Coors tires design on my cults3D to propose a Shogun tire 3D printed on his shop few days later after changing the design to mark it with the original lettering, I must say that i've been tempted to change the design to incorporate the lettering design and to release the files for free., but at this stage I didn't..).

While they were busy copying your work, they could have made at least one new original part to save face.

That's fuc*ed. It's not like they didn't have the resources to make a novel solution. It's one thing to run you out of the market with a similar design. It's another thing to run someone out with their own design.

This is an artist's rendition of how the AE kit ended up being similar to the FW kit.

Fun fact my buddy is some sort of an high flying electrical engineer at a national lab and has a need for lots of hex drivers in their lab. All the guys there use them and when I met them they didn't really know of the MIP RC connection just that the tools were the "best quality" they ever used. Guy who owned the hobby shop I worked at in 90's prior to that was a repairman for NCR, National Cash Register, and he used them in his job too. Always made me wonder how many other precision type trades were using them.

Haven't been around these parts too much but as soon as I saw the news about the rc10 4wd in my news feed, I knew right where to come for the story and commentary.

GomachV, very sorry to hear how you were treated in this.

I sold off my shelfers a few years ago and all these re-re kits look so appealing but I don't want to restart building and creating an army of shelfers again.

For now I'm on the fence munching popcorn but it is a fascinating time to see 1980s nostalgia still very trendy with folks. CD's, tapes, Radwood cars and shows, 80s music, etc. I know prefernces will flip again at some point so I have to remind myself, is it a compliment that there is so much interest in product re-releases in many consumer and hobby industries targeting buyers who appreciate this? We have the attention for many fans and companies wanting to invest capital or spend money on entertainment if it is 80s or 90s genre stuff.

It could be worse, consumer preferences and companies could devote money to re-releasing 1st gen iphones or ipods.

I work in a prototype lab/shop for a large global bearing/components manufacturer. In the past few years our focus has switched to mechatronics prototyping, which contain a lot of small metric screws. First thing I requested was two sets of MIP drivers. The lead engineer balked at how 'expensive' they were. After removing multiple stripped screws with the MIP's (caused by 'affordable" hex drivers) and saving literally thousands (tens of thousands??) of dollars in custom machined parts, there are at least 10 full MIP sets around the shop.

People just love the quality and precision

I'm shocked that Futaba hasn't given us a retro radio yet. JR did an aircraft radio like that a few years back and it's sweet!

Funny u mention radios... I just ordered a Sanwa Gemini Sport for myself and my kiddos to have in the rotation. Excited to try sticks again after 30 years lol

I learned on a stick radio and can pick one up and drive equally terrible with it as with a pistol grip
