Funny you mention the steering - something is funky with the geometry, it has a ton of bump-steer.
- The only odd thing I see is the steering links are in the more rearward Ackerman position on the bell cranks.
- I will move them to the forward position - but I wonder if the RPM setup is to blame for some of the bump-steer?

Are those GT/DS/T2 bellcranks, installed in the rear nose plate holes?

If so, that will give you weird steering geometry.

Yes, you can use some super short screws to hold the nose to the chassis and you will need to countersink the front holes or use some countersink washers because of the specialty screws those cranks use. You also might need to tap those front holes, early noseplates were not tapped.

There isn't even room for countersunk washers.

I used some small nylon washers, trimmed to fit. They just compress into the space to keep grass from getting hung up.

Not to spend your money, but I'd use different bellcranks. Some of the black aluminum ones from JConcepts would look nice on that truck. They have buggy and truck versions. Personally, I'd use the buggy version in the front holes, with some button head screws.

I am getting to the point where I let others find the good stuff, and they hook me up! Right now, I have a pretty good network of about four guys, who are within two hours of me, in four different directions, and if/when they find older RC vehicles, they get with me right away. This is working out, because I go to every estate/yard/garage sale and flea market everywhere around me, and I can't find crap! Literally nothing! But, some of these peeps I know find stuff every time they go out! I do not get it!

Todays roadtrip was the perfect example! I was in OSHA training all day yesterday, and at about 9am, I get a text from one of my guys, who appears to be at a flea market, with a pic of Bolink legends car complete and ready to go. In the background I can see a Futaba Tx box sitting on the table, and ask him if that is included, and he says yes. I ask what the damage will be, and he says $80. I am in. He then hits me up about an hour later with an incomplete gold pan slider in his hand, and a Traxxas something truck in the tub in the background. I ask him about the gold pan, and he says $30. I tell him I don't know what the truck thing is in the tub, but what would it cost for me to purchase it off him, and he says $20. I tell him I will take it all.

So, this afternoon I make the 2.2 hour trip to his house for the pickup. This is the same guy I bought my Trackmaster hodgepodge oval car for $80 just 3-4 weeks ago. $130 out the door for the new lot. And the best part is that, at the end of the day, he only paid $10 for the gold pan and Stampede together!

I know that many here hate the FBMP, and I will agree it is a crappy place, but if you fight through it, you will find honest people with honest deals, and you can create a network that just brings the deals to you.

That old Stampede is an excellent candidate for a wide track basher.

I use Proline front arms (RPM now makes wide arms) and front offset wheels all around. After lowering it a little, the thing is nearly impossible to flip sideways.

Need help finding replacement shock pistons that are 3mm shaft and 9.9mm outside diameter (see below pic). These are for shocks off of a Futaba FXT and being given to a fellow forum member for his FXT.
All 3mm shaft pistons I search for do not indicate the outside diameter, therefore I don't know if any will actually fit correctly. I have and tried pistons for Associated 10mm shocks but they are slightly too large and do not fit inside the FXT shock bodies.

They should be Tamiya CVA's. They were made in two different bore sizes. I'll check when I get home.

After checking through my stuff, it looks like CVA's were made in three bore sizes.

The early "Hi Cap" shocks with the larger bore appear to have the same size as the later smaller bore ones.

It does look like the earlier pistons are a little thicker. I've noticed that newer Tamiya pistons are a little on the thin side before.

Re-re Vanquish and Terra Scorcher rear shocks are the same design, except yellow in color.
