I think you'll need a new speedo, too. Unless you can remove the peg so the needle can just keep going.

I found there are companies that have a little box with a motor you hook your cable driven speedo to to operate on an electronic trans. I don't think I'm going that route though. For now I'll be running no speedo. I pretty much just go with the flow of traffic and if need be I'll use my phones gps speedo app. In the future I'm considering one of these. need to run it by someone smarter than me to see if it would work in my application.

Really you don't need a speedo if you've got a tach. I found I wasn't even looking at the speedo, just listening to engine RPM and watching tach.

Haltech should work, but I like old school.

My Brother runs these gauges in his 510. GPS speedo and worked better than his phone. SPeedo can also do 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times and such. no cables but for power and run the atenna to the passenger under the dash. Pretty customizable for the original price, made to order. and can do many different top speed speedo, ie 80, 100, 120, 140 200 as the top speed, and the gauge is set up for it. he also runs the volt/water temp/oil preassure/ fuel gauge as a single 4 guage unit. and a tach on his steering column. the other 2 gauges are mounted int he stock Dime gauge holes. all have warning lights, for them. ie low oil preassure and so on.

I'll have to check out those gauges. The main reason I like the dash systems like the haltech is how much stuff they can display in a relatively small area. And it's all easy to see. I'm not so much worried about a speedo. But if I can get it all in one shot I'll take of

I sure will. And yes I was both nervous and excited. And my nervousness proved true. I have two small fuel leaks. Only a slow drip but still a leak. The bad part is the one is on top of the tank. So I need to drop it tonight. But I was very excited to hear it come to life. And super excited to see that the harness I pulled apart and put back together following instructions by text worked out in the end. Lastly I'm excited that my exhaust seems like it's going to sound really good. No progress since Saturday and it still barely idles. But I took another video from another angle to show off the exhaust a little better.

If that's your goal--displaying a bunch of information without rice-ifying your car interior with gauges and fugly gauge pods everywhere, consider the Reveltronics UTCOMP devices...I'm putting the UTCOMP-PRO unit in my Grand National next spring. That one has double the analog and digital inputs and has data-logging; the UTCOMP-3 is a bit smaller but doesn't do data-logging.

On an old car like the GN, I'll have to do some wiring--I'll have to splice into the MAP sensor to get a boost reading and will need to add a transducer onto the fuel rail to get fuel pressure readings, and there's obviously a bit of soldering to do, but I've downloaded and read through the manual and it doesn't look too scary. Most of us RC guys are pretty good with soldering irons.

Thanks for that link I will look into and read about those. And you are correct. I don't like the look of a ton of gauges everywhere. For what I need I could probably fit in my cluster. I'm just thinking by time I replace all of my gauges with electronic stuff I'd probably be close to the price of one of those haltec style clusters. And I haven't really looked yet I think there is an adaptor that just plugs into my OBD2 port so it would be plug and play.

I know I was waiting for the smoke and total meltdown after I rewired my engine bay and fixed up some wiring under the dash that had previously melted.

Do you know why it's surging? If not I would suspect an air leak. If you installed the obd2 connector the idling should be enough to get some diagnostics. Stock cam?
