Nothing is indestructible. The new arms will be designed to be tougher but I have no idea if they could have survived that wreck or not. The current arms are intended to retain a stock appearance. It really depends what you want. If durability is more important than the original looks then the new arms will be the way to go. They'll probably be a couple of dollars more since there is more material in them.

Cool. Looking original dont matter to me. Wider and tougher is my approach. Will you give us a heads up when they are available?

I would NOT advise using 3D parts for bashing or super aggressive racing. I do not think these parts are fragile. I think they are at least as durable as the xxx-cr/B4 days.. the current modern day 10th scale race cars are the toughest cars that have been made.

If you are regularly breaking parts on your B5/22, etc.. then plan appropriately.


Fred, Random Q:, not actually wanting you to do this, just curious how crazy $$$ 3D Aluminum Arms would cost. I'm guessing ~$100/pair lol

There isn't an aluminum option with 3D printing. You could get stainless steel which would be unbelievably heavy at $125. It would be far cheaper to have a machine shop make you an aluminum set.

Stainless Steel, would have you breaking SC Trucks in practice!

When I saw people excited to buy $70 B5 titanium axles, to use with their $70 MIP puck drive-shafts... my mind was blown. No way to tell what people are willing to spend $$$ on for racing!

I considered making the new rear arms wider to accommodate the stock RC10 hubs but decided against it. Part of the reason that the current conversion arms work well is because the front and rear arms are closer in length to each other. The reality is that with a front kick, you want a longer arm in front than in the rear. The RC10 has much shorter front arms than rear arms and even with the wider version, the fronts are still slightly shorter. If I were to make an arm that would use the stock rear hubs, the rears would be much longer than the fronts again. This is also why I haven't made a set of arms that allow the use of hex wheels up front. They'd be short again. Just slightly longer than the stock arms. I don't want to make something just for the sake of making it but rather have it be a useful improvement.

Imo,
Your arms are spot on! Geometry etc..
I don't find them fragile either..

The fronts do work well with hexes, and my ruler says the front width is a max allowed.
If for some reason, I race somewhere that says its too wide, I'll switch to either Yok 4.3mm or B44 front hexes.

The only limit of me keeping the pace with the mid cars at the track, is bcz I'm running RM. I have a mid RC10 in the works. These arms are a performance enhancer.

I finally got around to loading those new rear racer arms into Shapeways. They are quite pricey since they've got a lot of material in them but they should be strong.
