i hope you bolt it down or at least take it into the shop at night so it doesn't walk off. my wifes great great grandfather use to run an Esso staion on hanover street in pottstown many years ago. the only thing that is left that we know of is an old plastic piggy bank shaped like a fat gas man in the old 60's style Esso uniform, it is curently in our possession.

That could be as late as the early 70's. I remember as a wee little pup, my dad beotching about gas getting up to 75 cents per gallon. When I was in college I was praying for anything less than $2 a gallon, since I was running 90 miles round trip, per day, in a van that barely got 10 miles to the gallon. Do you know how many pizzas I had to deliver to afford the gas?

very cool....

what did you guys end up doing with the front and rear suspsension? Pop has a idea to build up one of the 57's as a gasser. Looks like a new front clip, dropped axle up front?

how 'bout the rear control arms?

all of the good pics i have of the straight axles in the olds and my dad's 55 chevy are on another computer, which isn't working at the moment.

but, both front clips were cut off right in front of the steering box, then my dad made new 2x4 rails. both cars use a hurst-type front engine mount, second series 55-60 chevy 1/2 ton front axles and springs. both cars use a cross steer setup. i don't remember exactly what parts were used, but i know it included jeep wrangler or cherokee steering components.

both cars use rear leaf springs in the stock locations. i know on my dad's car, he added a leaf and had them re-arched. i don't remember what we did on the olds. probably the same thing. the "rear control arms" are actually traction bars. the ones on the olds my dad made. the ones on my dad's car, if i remember correctly, are actually isuzu rodeo or trooper lower control arms. but shhhh................ don't tell anyone.

I like the custom wheels.

Surprisingly, that thing doesn't look too bad, and I like the way they used a bug for the front lid. The question is though, why take the most worthless POS and do this to it? That thing was underpowered from the factory, let alone quadrupling the size and weight, though I suspect that they have an engine for each rear axle just to be able to make it move. Bet it handles like a dream!

That thing doesn't actually look all that bad. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't touch it if you paid me to, but it does have a certain something about it. scr8py does pretty good work!
