Hi Niki,

I've just ordered all of the 3d printed parts from shapeways and noticed that you changed the design of the race steering just after I ordered.

I ordered mine in black and now when I click on that part on my order in progress, it won't come up. (NIX91 Race steering sls)
Do you think Shapeways will print the revised part for me instead of the original?

I just noticed that both steering sets have the same part name so hopefully they will.

Hi David,
You will get the version you ordered. There is nothing changed in Race Steering parts, in new version parts are just joined together with a sprue.
In fact it was your order that got me thinking what could I do with the design to have race steering parts polished and colored without loosing bearing fit tolerances.

I can't say for sure it works every time but Shapeways offered me 10% off because I left items in my cart for a couple days.

I hope shapeways doesn't loose any parts due to them not being joined together. I probably would of ordered them in yellow as well, but black will still look good as I have a black transmission for the build.

Do you think that the 3d printed parts hold up on the track as this will be my new racer and it will cop a fair bit of abuse.
I can't wait to build it!

SLS-printed nylon parts are surprisingly strong...
I had a huge rollover with my rere-Worlds and saw steering was broken. I found 8-32 screw snapped - SLS bellcrank was OK !

That's good to know, on of my friends broke the same screw on his re re worlds too.

Use a steel screw there instead of aluminum. It won't break again.

Because you should add weight to the front anyway, this is a great idea!

Anyone find 8-32 100 degree steel screws? I'll stick with alumimum myself but to those looking...make sure your finding 100 degree or you won't fit them flush. Too much taper and you'll have to washer up the steering just to clear the taper

I don't remember who, but yeah, someone found aircraft stainless screws. Wish I could find that thread.

i have never seen a broken bellcrank screw until recently. meaning, the re-release kits. you can tell the 8-32 screw that came in the classic and worlds kits are far from "good quality".

Seriously how much weight is changing two screws going to add? Nothing perceptible is the only correct answer.

Good job Niki Luckily the screw broke instead of the servo gears.

I had an 8-32 head pop off on my stock worlds re-re just tightening it in the nose plate.

The aluminum screws AE has been selling for the last 10 years have looked like s**t.

As far as using steel steering screws, I'd rather break the screw than the plastic steering part. Stick with aluminum.
