Whats involved in anodising, do you need alot of equipment/skill?

I agree with Jeff that it's best to have it done by a pro, but you can do a lot of the prep work yourself. You can remove existing anodizing by spraying the parts with Easy-Off oven cleaner; the ano should start to come off after only a few minutes. Then rinse off with water. If brown smutty coloration appears, don't worry--a bit of wet-sanding with 600-grit gets rid of it. To get nice results from the anodizer, I recommend polishing the deanodized parts before sending them out. Ano doesn't hide surface imperfections, scuffs, scratches, so your prep will make all the difference.
Preparation is basically wet-sanding/polishing. You can find tons of info on polishing aluminum all over this forum.

I like the blue too Jeff. Of course I liked the copper. WHen will we see the Purple, Red and Green?!

I'm rally flat out jealous of these two new ultima's you have done. There has been so little Ultima customizing on the site compared to all the 10's. I understand that because RC10s are SO much more ubiquitous. Also, the graphite Ultimas are much more suited to running. I've been on the lookout for one of the aluminum gen1 chassis to do just what you've done. I guess I'm just too cheap to pay what they've been demanding. No matter anyway, I'm probably too cheap to pay for custom ago work when I'm just going to run the thing anyway. I bought some old anodized chassis from Phin a week ago to try and cut a custom motor plate for an ultimo, but realized after I was almost done that the 3mm blue plate was going to interfere with the counter gear... DOH.
