I was there Thursday through Sunday. Packed house as usual. It's amazing how it rained steady here for to days, but just a sprinke or two there.

Honestly, there was so much stuff there, only a few cars really stick out in my mind. When I upload my pics, I'll give you a link to check out. They are mostly of our crew, but some nice stuff.

Yeah, there really is so much down there, I honestly might have seen a red and white OLDs, but who knows. I didn't get a chance to really go through the show at the inlet, but we rolled through the convention center pretty good on Friday, and we stay up near Hooters, so we stick near that show. The tricky part is people who are entered in the show come and go as they please, so you have to be at the right show at the right time to see some neat stuff. Coolest one this year for me? Pontiac Safari NOMAD. now that's a tough car to find.

there is a V8 volvo wagon that is pretty stealthy. This year, lots of late model GTO's, third and 4th gen camaro/firebirds, and of course the place is littered with Mustangs. Saw a really decent amount of G bodies this year too......Really glad the weather held out.

I'll give you my top 5.....

1.Rat rod from DE, right hand drive and vanity plate = UNSAFE
2.Vinny's 69 Camaro from NJ. Blue/white stripes with a crank driven ProCharger close to 2000hp.
3. Blue 65 Comet Pro Street big block car
4. the Volvo wagon just cause it was so cool
5. The Dodge Polara Wagon Limo. vanity plate = NUNRUNR

I'd have to say that 4th Gen Camaro's and 2010-11 Mustangs ruled the car count though this year... :(

something a little different out of scr8p's shop.

for many years, my dad has wanted to have an old gas pump to set out in front of the garage. well, he finally picked up a 40's era Esso pump at fall carlisle last year. it was in need of a full restoration. we worked on it slowly...... as time allowed. fixing dings and dents, cutting out rust and weld in patch panels, doing finish body work and getting the panels in primer.

there's quite a bit of stuff reproduced for these. so my dad bought all new rubber seals, a globe for the top, frosted Esso glass and chrome parts that are available. parts that weren't available were sent out to be rechromed. we also polished all of the stainless. thankfully, it was all in really nice shape.

so anyway, i got the front end sheet metal painted for the above 442 on friday, and polished saturday. when i got up to the house on sunday, my dad and i decided i should knock out painting the panels while garage was pretty much empty. so, i got them all prepped, setup, and got the white sprayed. monday morning, my dad already had the front panels masked off to spray the red when i got there. sprayed the red, stripped off the paper and got them cleared.

yesterday and today, my dad worked on getting it put back together. now he needs to put an outlet outside between the doors so he can plug it in for the lights come on.

Wow, that turned out great. I see these are turning up more and more at the swap meets. I think it was at Carlisle that I saw the company with all the resto parts and complete pumps set up, very cool. Would be great to still be able to pull into a station that still had these along with the crazp cheap fuel price from bitd.
