Things may have "changed" with later plastic-tub Losi cars, but the original car had a very narrow nose-piece and used wider-than-AE front a-arms to make up the difference.
That's why I said the above car "appeared" narrow.

I agree on your comments about a stock car. All of the models back then had their weaknesses and it was up to you to identify and fix those.

It sure was fun "fixing things" back in the day - way better than buying them "out of the box" that way today which requires little or no imagination or wrenching/modding ability.

They are the Losi RPM arms, and as I built it for a shelf queen, I think it has the stock length arms, the Pro se racer you also have now to, has the Truck arms to fix the with problem. I raced the Se so I fixed that one. their was never any chance of the J2 leaving the shelf with the NOS chassis I started the build with. I belive the sterring blocks are 25 deg.

...and there is still no danger of it leaving the shelf, it's way too nice. The SE will do all the hard work.

I feel the same way. I don't think we should have to spend an extra $200 to get the car to work, but there has to be a happy medium.

That's it, I'm going to buy a new kit and convert it back to jrx2 specs

With as cheap as these cars are today, compared to back in the day, I have no problem spending a few bucks to make them "right" -- that's racing. Racing ain't cheap.

At the same time, nowadays you have all these first-month-in-rc-hero's that show up at the track because all they have to do is buy a team car, go on the Internet and find a set-up, put on a set of tires and they're ready. Within a month they're podiuming, and thinking "this is easy." There's no paying their dues. There's no hours upon hours of assembly, or filing parts to make them fit perfect.

Heck, I'm ready to find some parts and build back my old cobble-together
1/2 RC10 / 1/2 JRX2 special and show up at the Vintage Nats.

I am so Glad to hear the SE will get a hard work out. thats what it was built to do!! that car is a tank!! the first race it had last summer, they stuck me in with the 4wd mod class a ZX4 came down the front strech and rear ended me wide open with a brushless Lipo set up. It knocked me 25 feet off the track in to the parking lot. it sounded like a real car crash, I expected to be handed back the peices? I started off the drives stand, they all yelled for me to get back up their didn't even scrach it
