Re: Speed Channel - Sebring Coverage
You know Andy's made a body after the Group 44 GTOs? Don't you?
Well, looks like my enjoyment of the coverage is over. The wife just got off work, watched 5 minutes of it and said "this is boring, what else is on". I just said, just be glad I didn't drag you there...... she has bad memories of that place. She has only been once, we camped there and it was soooo hot that weekend. She complained the whole time. I can't remember when it was, like 2000 or 2001. She says she'll never go back..... go thing Sebring is only 2.5 hours from our families/where we grew up.

You know the day I have rely on Grand Am to fill my sports car fix, is the day I end my own life.Eau Rouge wrote:Porsche is not the only manufacturer to pull out of ALMS—Audi's factory efforts are done after Sebring.

I believe Penske is running Porsche power in the Grand Am series.

Re: Speed Channel - Sebring Coverage
Indy racing has become really big over here..even though the closest race is in Australia. The reason being that one of the top drivers is a kiwi..yep Scott Dixon is one of us..the reason he does so well on road courses is because he developed his skills on proper race tracks that have more than two straights and two left hand bends..there are a few other kiwi drivers coming up through the ranks..there are 3 or 4 in the indy lights and other feeder series. One other kiwi driver, Brendon Hartley has just been appointed as the test driver for the Red Bull F1 team.
In the past other Kiwis have had an impact on races in the USA. In the late 60's Bruce McLaren and Dennis Hulme (both Kiwis) went to your country and cleaned up in the mighty 7-litre McLaren M8A of 1968. Which was the first of the series of cars which dominated Can-Am for five years. Of course the McLaren F1 team of today is a continuation of the original McLaren team. They were known in those days as the "Bruce and Denny show" because they cleaned up using pretty much home made cars.
Proud to be a Kiwi?..Damn right I am..
Pete

Re: Speed Channel - Sebring Coverage
Just heard a rumor that Honda/Acura is upset about Audi, Porsche and Peugeot no longer competing in ALMS P1/P2 this year and is ready to pull out and make a full-on assault at Indy with the Patron team and the Fernandez team.
So much for the last, great innovative technology class in the U.S.
