Some of the Pitstop Bulldog mod advertising of the era - (also a nice incident picture and some taipans) would love to know what happened to the Grenenger 85 Worlds Champs Taipan directly above the incident...

His brother still has it! Jeff that is. (The Taipan)

I have a car with the steering mod like is shown in the pics - however Bob Burbages set up was superior, he is the guy that owned the red car you see in my post's.

Colin Greenenger is a top bloke, I still speak to him on occasion.

Will post more pics of the bulldog (s) I have if you are interested.

In that second picture - down the bottom left - there is a rally car - and a beetle shelled car, is that the car (peugot) I drove with Adam Davey in the enduro? If not - it looks awfully familiar?

Cheers

The Peugot 205 is a Grenenger Bulldog, the bug another Taipan. The article is circa 1985.

Any photos from anyone (nudge nudge, wink wink Tiger1) and yes please of your RPM mods....and any pictures of the Taipans would be a legitimate contribution to this hobby...especially given the recent popularity of mongrels, hybrids and the ryuz. There is some seriously fantastic historical work being done on this site for the RC10 (by Steve Husting) and it would be great if some of the more esoteric cars were documented and represented...that and before these cars are inherited and discarded.

Thats why the Peugot looks familiar then!! LOL

It has become a passion of mine to find these old highly modded cars and restore them to their former glory - you may have seen my "RPM Engineering" RCL incident.

I have several others - all in various states of being restored.

It is my strong desire to build another website and feature these cars in their very own section. It will happen - just gonna take time, hopefully I have a bit of that left on this planet!

I am not sure if I have posted this in this site already - but some of the pics and text will give a bit more info until I get around to doing more detailed shots etc.

Hope you enjoy:

Thank you for posting. I'm forever surprised that the Bulldog held off Optimas (in Australian races at least) for so long. (Maybe it was the Farnan's superior marketing)

One photo reminds me, I think the roll bar ranks as one of the Bulldog's achilles heels...firstly zip tied but more so that the upper wishbone hole doesn't match it's range of movement. As the roll bar plays a crucial role in anti-parallelogramming with the monoshock setup, I would have thought that modding that would be an early must do...(that and a less floppy floor pan).

PS You probably know already but it says the Peugot Bulldog was directed at the emerging sydney non-dirt oval scene.

Yeah - the roll bar was pretty funky!

I used to go out to Rouse Hill back in the day and run on the oval at Zanter Hobbies - with Superchamps converted to oval sprinters etc...ahhh - the good old days.

Do I know you Viper? You are a man of mystery!! ;)

cheers

Thanks for putting that post up. I loved the article and how the bulldog was so competitive. :-)
going to try that steering mod for sure, though I read somewhere that hotshot knuckles work also?

Chris Im going to help you with that steering mod before this next meeting- . It works realy well and looks cool too. Infact Bob Burbage leant me one of his old units not before his passing and it was an honour to get in a few races with him at Ryde up until that point. he was a real character and a lovely bloke too.

Daz, we realy need to start getting some quality video footage of these classics in action. You have so many cool old racers that are begging for more time on the race track and would like timeless infront of a camera.

Hey Chris,

Yep, you "could" use Hotshot knuckles - but they are from a hotshot!!  You want something that isnt nearly as weak as the part you are replacing! Unless of course you have some of the funky alloy ones. You are honestly better of sourcing some Optima ones - for the front at the very least...It is definately worth the effort.

Jason - yeah - one of the problems with running every single class is the fact that I cant video my own - or other peoples cool stuff. With the Castle Hill Vintage Festival I am trying to get together coming up - I think we may have that problem sorted though!! ;)

I had a look at the old girl (Bobs bulldog) again thisafternoon - such a sweet car, might have to retire this one though - and build another with a few more mods that we used to do to them back in the day.

Cheers

I am reasonably sure that the IF part number is for an Inferno - so it is too large!!

Will see if I can have a dig around my gear and also eBay for the parts.

Chris you can fit the Lazer items also. 3 Racing do some very nice items in anodized alloy. I bought a set of blue ones for my yoke but they will be very good for the bulldog also.
