There is an electric SC8 being offered up on ebay right now, says the kit was done by Fine Design. I don't see anything on Fine Design's site.

I am just not sure about the SC8, I think it is not the right product at the right time. My first AE car was in 1985, and they have been my first choice on just about any rc car/truck....but they missed on this one.

Right now the economy is in the crapper, and they come out with a car that is pretty darn expensive, that has no class base to go into, and during the winter when most nitro off road is over, and back yard bashing is over as well....bad time.

The slash is a success because of three things, its cheap, its hard to bust, and it looks real....oh did I say it was cheap. For $200 you have a car-and radio, if you already have batts and a charger you are good to go, if you need that you can get 3 batts and a basic charger for under $100 without even trying hard.

Sorry AE I hope I am wrong but this is just something that is going to miss the boat, I see it as the next DS, something that is cool but a misfit.

If AE would have built a slash type truck that would fit in the spec slash classes and even if it was a kit and more expensive then the traxxas car they could not get the kits out fast enough.

I hope I am wrong but I don't think so....wrong product, wrong time.

Sorry to say, but I agree with Cherokee on this one. Unfortunately the economy they cannot control, but at the same time, offer a cheaper version w/o engine and radio. Most prefer not to run that cheap junk anyway. About the only class they will fall into will be buggy, so limitations should be imparted to the trucks same as the buggies. Spec class for that kind of bread? Nah. Not me. I bought the Slash as a cheap and fun alternate class to 1/8 buggy. Defo not gonna run 2 1/8 scale rigs same day.

I think their execution is good as far as realism goes. But the packaging sucks. The real factor is the only reason why I would get one. Their timing is based on trying not to let Traxxass run away with too much $$$$.

Only time will tell. Let's see where we are 1 year from now. In the meantime, I will be running my new Losi 8 2.0.......

I understand they used the longer truggy chassis with buggy suspension parts on it...

My issue with it (other than price) is performance...I have watched the AE videos, they have it bliping over the bumps, not taking one supercross style jump (you know that is what people will be doing), and it really seemed to slide around quite a bit. Maybe its just me, but making the driving realistic to the real CORR trucks isnt something they should have aimed for, leave that to the $200 Slash.

Has anyone seen a Slayer in action? Do they wallow around the track like the SC8/Slash?

Not trying to bash the SC8, just getting in line with a poor release.

That SC8 looks really cool but I'm most of you on this, too much money. I was really bummed they didn't make it electric like Traxxas did. When I was at my LHS they said the won't even stock the AE vehicles, too expensive and not popular with many people anymore. They said the Traxxas stuff is flying off the shelves even during this horrible economy. Im still sceptical about Traxxas but they sure do seem to have some decent products everyone wants. Maybe they are better now than 5-6 years ago?

The Slash is a blast, and a pretty solid platform. I havent done ANY maintenance on mine, and I've raced it 4-5 times, and let my 6 year old bash it in the grass about 20+ battery packs so far. No issues.

I bought the Slash to I have only ran 1 pack in it in my yard. it was fun losts of run time :D I have already got a new Proline Hardcore body, I dont like the cookie cutter of the other 6 slashes at my LHS track. so I called Asc. today and about getting some decals. they said the will be offering the predone bodys and a clear one only! at 100.00 pre decaled and painted each, no seperate decals so if you buy one and plan on running it toss the body in the closet and buy something else. like everything Asc. to expensive!!

Probably due to the licensing fees.... these days ain't the days of ole'. Companies IMO are WAYYYYYY to greedy with that stuff, which again IMO is small potatoes in terms of their real revenue stream. They say it is the principle, at least that is what they told when I doing the photog thing. Big fish, little fish, they gut them all the same and don't treat them any differently.

that is so true Jay, I called proline about that bug body ive been bugging you about, and the said they will be rereleasing it if they could ever get VW to stop giving them the run around on the licensing. I heard Losi is getting the same run around from VW? it doesnt make any sence? take the money it doesnt effect them? it only promotes them. how much bad press can a Rc car give them?

Dude, I have read and heard that VW is the ABSOLUTE WORST for that copyright junk. They are the poster child for pushing that stuff to the absolute limit. I don't understand why.... well I do, but on the same token I don't.

Well I finally fingered one at a LHS. I gotta admit I'm pretty disappointed! The 'cage is plastic! It sure looks like a metal cage in all the pics I've seen. I don't remember reading anywhere that it was plastic although I may have overlooked it in all my excitment. The whole thing looks kinda toyish (plastic) but thats how all the new rc cars look and the reason I don't buy new cars anymore. I guess I'm going to wait longer than expected to buy this and see how others like it and to see if (when) someone makes a METAL roll cage for it.
