Re: Rarest of the RARE
Even rarer than the RR Tuber, the MikeDealer Tuber. Unless he gets a huge hair in his back side and grows a few more limbs, I don't think he plans on hitting 300. One day, those will be worth big bucks. And from what I have seen, already worth more that the RR version.

He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.

Re: Rarest of the RARE
Ok, here's one that you guys have to find.
I overheard 2 local racers in 1989 talking about the worlds. They were both there and they were specifically talking about the TR31 and how the Associated/Yokomo drivers would cut up the tires before throwing them away.
One guy said that he couldn't wait because Associated told him that they were going to send him the new "Stealth kit" so he can test it in the Midwest. He was talking about the new car's longer suspension components and how well the prototype did, so I knew that he wasn't referring to the Stealth Transmission conversion.
I wans't going to jump in to ask questions...and also, I was a Losi guy back then. So, there may actually be a pre-production RC10 Stealth car out there.
I recently began thinking about this more because of Steve's pictures of Masami's 89 car. The suspension components look like they were injection molded vs. machined. This means that Associated spent the $$$ to have the tooling made.
How's that for a horse with one horn...

highwayracer

Re: Rarest of the RARE
Didnt know associated even made one, 300 is a really small production run and also a killer movie!! did it come complete? and how much did they go for moneywise? did it come with a six gear or stealth? thanksErich Reichert wrote:I'd say hands down the rarest thing is the Real Racing tuber.. how many of those did they make? like less the 500... thats about the smallest production run in r/c... add in that they were numbered and are now like 15 years old at least. I've seen just about everything else listed (factory work outdrives excluded... those kick ass btw) at least a handful of times a year on ebay and even in consignment areas of hobby shops but only 2 RR tubers EVER on ebay and we all know wht they went for moneywise.

Re: Rarest of the RARE
It wasn't made by Associated, it was made by a company called Real Racing. They designed it around the RC10.

I have always thought that too. The arms at least look molded, it'd be awesome to find them still available.highwayracer wrote: This means that Associated spent the $$$ to have the tooling made.

Rarest RPM part...the unicorn "steering enhancement kit" for theRC10 Ultramold buggy and worlds front end kit. We never put this in the catalog, it was offered to a few dedicated support racers and the occasional customer calling in for set up advice for the buggy.

Re: Rarest of the RARE
The front ball diff foy the Yokomo yz-834b is almost mythical in its rarity .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: Rarest of the RARE
It's interesting to see what was rare in 2008 vs now.
There are of course engineering samples and very sort run parts, such as the jconcepts egt kit. I don't know if they count since they are nearly one-offs.
I think about parts that were produced in volume of at least a few thousand.
I have seen most produced items pop up from time to time.
I have not seen:
Early Edinger e-clip secured outdrive pivot.
NIP RPM ultramolded Buggy.
NIP Edinger pre-painted rc10 bodies
Saw once:
Very Rare items that were produced in numbers that I have seen
Edinger notched stock pistons
Edinger antenna tube with text on it
Associated Rc10 DS rear tires nip
RPM antenna mount and tube
RPM rc10t steering enhancement kit
Seen more than once:
Rare Items:
NIP kits
NIP powder coated rc10/rc10t chassis and parts.
Associated Teflon Coated shock bodies

Re: Rarest of the RARE
They don't even have one of those at the RPM headquarters. Still haven't seen one for sale.

Re: Rarest of the RARE
That doesn't surprise me. I know a few other big name companies that didn't stash away NOS items for collectibility purposes. I sold that nip 8080 on ebay back in 2019. You may find it on Worthpoint.
