Allways start yping without looking at the screen to find my wife switched to kanji.
Once again:
With the high rear tower and longer chassis I think this will acutally look better than the original.
Plus it accentuates nicely all the custom stuff that sits under the shell.

I mounted the Protech and I did a better job around the front shock tower but I think I could still do a little better. I'm thinking of making a Siebenelch-inspired rear shock tower (like the RC10T) to be able to lower the body a bunch....but that's going to be a while...

It looks perfect to me.

Unless you have room to slam the front also, I'd leave the rear as it is.
But if you really want to slam it, you can use this direct fit shocktower: same profile as the the ultima pro, but purple anodised alu

There's a matching front shock tower also, and a bumper and spare front bulkhead (2-part design instead of 1)

Which wheels did you use in the rear? They look the lazer ZX-5 ones, but seem to have more offset.

Those are Lazer ZX-RR wheels I think. Either that or Triumph, one or the other. They have some offset but the HPI 5-star wheels that I have my race tires on have a little more which brings the rear width out nicely. Not quite as wide as my B4 in the rear but pretty close. The front width is almost spot on compared to the B4.

You may be right about the body, it's resting right on top of the front bulkhead. I don't think I can get it down any further. I'm going to make another shock tower out of carbon fiber and integrate some holes for a Lazer-style plastic wing mount. I have some of the old school wing mount buttons and bullets but I don't really want to use them. Plus, I don't like goofing around with getting the wire bent correctly end evenly...could spend hours doing that and still not be close! ;)

Hopefully I'll get to run it sometime either next week or 2 weeks from now. I'll let you know how that goes.

The legal limit for racing is 250 mm, how much do you have now?

I've been playing a lot with this type stuff lately and can probably help with some advise

With the yellow Lazer wheels I'm at 240mm, with the HPI 5-star's I'm right on 250mm :mrgreen:

Kyosho has some new CVD drives that are just 0.5 mm longer than the old UJ's or dogbones.
They use the cross-pin style which means you can pickup clamping hexes for touringcars of different thickness, for a mm, or 2, extra on each side. Additional to that they use a 2mm spacer between the bearing and crosspin which means the hex sits out 2mm further too.

Not only does this bring you to 246-48mm, it also gives you far stronger and smoother axles under extreme suspension angles.
I'll see if i can find the label for them and 'll tell you the partnr's then.
If you have plain dogbones now, HPI has a direct fit wider wheel axle also, I should have that label still too.

Thanks Richie! Means a lot coming from a Kyosho connoisseur like yourself :mrgreen: That reminds me, do you have a Triumph? If so, could you take some pictures of the front and rear suspension and measure the wheelbase...? I'm curious to see what it is compared to my Ultima since I don't have a stock Kyosho chassis. Thanks!!!

Oh, I think I see why you want pics. The wheelbase is 277mm (axle to axle).

It looks like you have a Triumph rear suspension with an Ultima Pro front suspension. I think your rear axle carriers are backwards. I will follow up with some pics as I don't even remember. I could be talking out of my bum...which happens from time to time. :D

I've got 277mm here too, cool :) I was never really sure how the rear carriers were supposed to go on now that you mention it :shock:
