I like your take on the darker anodizing; they do look nice and even have a silvery look depending on the lighting.
Safe to say, Kyosho would probably package some variant of these shocks in a Turbo Ultima kit if they did launch a re-re version today.

Yeah as far as fastest shipping, fed ex is top notch! If you have ever seen their facilities compared to ups and usps, they are light years ahead, highly automated. UPS is very consistent, their drivers are awesome, their network is just slower. Their operation is more antiquated than FedEx, but their employees are better than usps. Ever watch a carrier these days do a walking route you know what I mean. Pretty sad.

Haha, yeah those shocks look awesome. In fact they stand out to me on this kit. The og turbo ultima’s shocks always looked unfinished to me.

Your build is pushing me to the bite the bullet on one of these, but I would want to run it! and it’s to nice to beat on

I finally peeled the masking off the first body I trimmed this morning and it’s time for an update, just lexan and paint work.
This plain white paint job has been a fun challenge actually.
I normally blast and paint things from a junkyard and refinish wood.

Also one night I decided to trim the other 2 bodies I had to fit this chassis really nice and tidy. This one I painted is the first one I trimmed in this thread.
Apparently I’m doing this again someday.

Step 1 was the tonneau cover, PS black.
It was here that overspray mist got under my masking ever so lightly. Thought I had it scrubbed with grey scotchbrite.

Next was Duratrax bright white for 6-7 misted coats.
Then PS41 bright silver backer.
Then pulled the window masks, masked off just the windows and did 2 misted coats of Duratrax window tint.

Not terrible; thankfully lots of decals yet to lay.

My friend just told me I need to add 50/50 lacquer thinner and isopropyl mix to my arsenal so I can lift overspray paint without being too hot for the lexan.

I’m happy with the bodywork.

That turned out really nice! The Turbo Ultima box art has always been one of my favorites. That body has an awesome shape.

Did you source OG decals? Those look real nice as they appear to be the correct orange color. I've seen reproduction decals where they look really red. Excellent work!

Thank you sir!! Confirming decals & bodies came from Marwan RC; I think the MCI decal sheet is more red.

Also confirming I'm still enjoying looking at it on the buffet cabinet in our dining room; haven't made it to outside to get dirt and scratches on it yet.

Somehow my method is at least partially to blame!
I email pictures to myself "smaller" to get em to 1mb and they're straight when I go save from email.

The pictures outside on the brick BBQ grill, the world isn't upside down.
Maybe I just need to go outside more.

The timing of my re-entry into RC kinda missed the JJ Ultima kit. This was OK; I managed to turn the 87 WC kit into a fairly faithful copy of the Turbo Ultima I actually wanted.

I’ve collected most parts for a long arm DPRC build but we have some discussion on those topics going already and I’ll get around to that.

The concept of parts-gathering an RC10 would lead to discovering that there are some cool CF Ultima Pro XL race builds out there and not a lot of discussion outside of FB.

For this next installment, let’s assemble a CF Ultima Pro using re-re parts…on RC10talk.

Todays episode of This Old House involved breaking up plaster, and then the cast iron bathtub with my favorite 4lb Mac Tools sledgehammer.

Shattered porcelain, plaster, cast iron shards, dust like crazy!
This place is a war zone.
God I love using that hammer.

My level of precision isn’t RC build level and going to the bench isn’t a good choice.

But I need to re-focus. Outside.

Let’s take a closer look at those carbon fiber parts.
This is really what makes this Ultima re-re build different from the one we just saw.

The chassis is Bezerk satin weave, 25 degree kickup; optioned for shorty LiPo, with the little relief for the re-re gearbox. There are 4 aluminum standoffs and LiPo brackets included. Also sourced the front and rear top mini deck pieces in satin weave. There is a little CF shim piece for compensating angle at the front bulkhead also.

The towers are from Exo Design; for Associated big bore shocks

And the Koswork motor support bracket.

The 13mm Associated shocks I got off eBay are in ziploc bags and have some extra parts Im noticing.
This will be new territory for me figuring out droop/which eyelets/spacers. I went with AE yellow springs. I have to catch up on some videos about building these.

I just had the thought to lay this chassis over the regular re-re aluminum chassis for a visual reference, so I will check back with that.

Lots of nice pieces there, it's going to be better than a JJ kit!
