I was hoping the team blue groove was good as that's what I ordered for mine.

Not much happening on this car at the moment.
Dug deep in my boxes and I think a Novak 410-M1c is about period correct.

This is a very impressive build. Such a big project to take on with all the custom parts. I'm really looking forward to seeing it progress.

I realised that I didn't have a period correct Trinity in my collection. Back in 91 I was running stock motors. So I turned to a guy in the UK from whom I got several nice Trinity motors. He came back with this picture.

The motor on the right is an actual Chris Doseck pink label with the purple can and the purple alu endbell! He actually has the correct motor for this build!
11 turn, perhaps a quad if he remembers correctly.
It is unfortunately not for sale.
So I struck a deal with my brother who had an Avante blue painted Championship series frankenstein motor in his Avante runner. And then I ordered a pink label from MCI. I do have a newer Trinity 11x3 that will donate its armature for this good cause.
I think that will be as close as I can get for the moment.

At first I was going for modern radiogear combined with a classic Trinity brushed motor and the Novak 410-M1c I showed earlier in this thread. But since I'm going back all the way back to 91 with this I decided to go old school with the whole setup.
So I dug out my trusty old 40MHz Futaba, a Futaba reciever and a Futaba 9402 servo. That is as old school as I can get without going on Ebay again.

I used the replica steering for my first run. Ran into clearance issues that limited me to 50% of steering lock. So the car was very difficult to get round the corners. But first impressions was that it drives very smooth and has XX-ish steering feel.
I then replaced the replica steering with the "race" steering provided in the kit.
Second run was awesome! The car is almost as smooth as my XX Cr runner. It had no problems keeping up with my brothers sorted Ultima "Pro XL" with rere gearbox.
I run orange pistons in the front, 30wt associated oil and green springs. In the rear I have red pistons, 27.5wt associared oil and red springs.
It runs really smooth with a lot of steering. Maybe not as planted in the rear as my XX runner, but I still have some sorting to do with the -91.
I can highly recommend this kit!
