Built up the slipper and installs the transmission and motor plate installed in the chassis. All the slipper parts were fine but replaced the thrust bearing with one from McMaster-Carr.

Rebuilt the shock cartridges with new old stock kits.

Also the truck appears the be a XXT-CR which i didn’t notice until assembling it. Also, it looks like someone changed it to use the rear hub set to ones from the Graphite Plus. The hub set was missing the internal spacers so i picked up a set to fix that.

I might see what it will take to update the suspension to match the Graphite Plus completely. I picked up a set of front kingpins that have the ballstud from the Graphite Plus to start there. Also might see about moving the Graphite Plus slipper if i can find a new old stock one.

Finished building up the shocks but am now stuck. The hardware kit from knk seemed off from the start because it had a ton of extra hardware and now i have gotten to a point where it is missing proper hardware to mount the shocks. Sent them a message and hope to hear back from them on a solution. It looks like another kit was mislabeled XXT and got sent to me.

KNK confirmed it was a mislabeled kit and are going to send a replacement. Great follow up on their part.

Almost completely assembled. Put a factory works carbon front hing pin plate. Installed the servo using contemporary AE ball studs and cups. Installed the motor to find the motor plate is badly bent and the pinion and spur wont align, found a NOS one on ebay and waiting for it to arrive. Testing out mounting layout for the electronics, hope to design and print up some parts to make the mounting clean.

Installed the electronics tonight. I had bought the shorty lipo holder for the XX but didn’t like how it worked with my battery. I modeled up a part in autodesk fusion to hold the battery and esc.

The part fits snuggly in the battery channel and has carve outs that fit the battery pack and esc. I mounted the battery far forward which let me mount the esc behind it. Both are about as low as i could go. I reuse the front velco strap to hold down the battery.

Very happy with the result mechanically and aesthetically.

Should be the last set of parts to finish have arrived. I found a Lunsford Ti Hinge Pin kit on ebay and had to get them. KNK sent me the replacement screw kit and my new motor mount arrived. Plan to button this up with the Factory Works motor centering kit and call it mechanically done.

Lunsford Ti hinge pins installed with brass shims on all the hinges.
KNK stainless screw set installed.
NOS motor plate and Factory Works motor centering kit installed.

Gotta start on the paint now but super happy with the mechanical part of the build. This is my first restoration and it was just as satisfying, if not more than building from a kit.

And the restoration is complete. Had a horrible paint experience with my paints going bad but I consider it good enough.

I couldn’t find new old stock rear wheels so I printed up a matching set.
