I decided to change the front axles to one piece units. These are for the B6, 5mm offset.
The Traxxas carriers are slightly wider than AE ones, necessitating internal shims.
These Kyosho 3X5 shims work perfect. The various sizes allow me to minimize endplay without a crush tube.
While this looks like a lot, it's only about 1mm worth of shims.
A little blue Loctite and it's ready to go.

Got some paint on this one.
When combined with modern wheels and tires, the JConcepts Detonator looks more at home.

It's been a few minutes on this one. Ed (Frankentruck) hooked me up with some 3D printed spring clamps that fit big bore springs on early shocks. He also made matching cups but I used some different height B5 cups.
