I was waiting for someone to bring that up, thought of that thread reading through this one. But RC10th did start this thread specifically about a certain model.

I do remember that thread which is sort of why I said "more questions", but like R6cowboy said I was asking more about the clones vs real Hakkos. I had a re-read of that thread and mine was the 7th post saying "I want a Hakko 937"

I'm pretty good with an iron and use the big 80watt for everything from circuit boards to batteries, although plugging it in and unplugging it to moderate the temperature is annoying. And I need to solder some caps on a congested board where there just isn't room for the big tip, so I thought it was a good time to finally buy something smaller with more control and precision.

Looks like the hot air rework adds another dimension to electronics repair. The consensus seems to be they are reliable which is a good thing.


Marc, I enjoyed reading your opinions and experiences with that iron. I was thinking of posting my opinions on here as well when it arrives and I get some use from it.
