Re: My racing days Hotshot replica hopefully
But what will it be like to drive 36 years later ? Could well be horrible to drive but my memory suggests it went in a straight line at speed and turned in tight corners really well , when I first had the Hotshot my mate Brent had a Progress with 4ws and 4wd and it sounded great but he found it would never track perfectly straight at speed but it did better in corners than the stock Hotshot , I think I must have got the roll induced steering idea from a magazine article with the Mini Mustang and did my best to copy it but I just can't remember .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: My racing days Hotshot replica hopefully
With Jeff's help I've started replicating the TMS chassis , these are pictures of a 3d printed mock up I'm working on to check the fit then they will be cut in 2mm fibre glass by Jeff in his Factory Works guise and my guess is they might be in his folio thereafter
all the anti roll bar mounts line up but you need a different rear anti roll bar at the rear as the Tamiya rear bar is a funky shape so a front one should work if you shorten the ends , I don't plan on using them at either end and just mounted the front for reference .

Re: My racing days Hotshot replica hopefully
I designed it in CAD from a mixture of dimensions Jeff already had from a similar chassis and scaled up photo's of the original , i prototype them with a 3d printer , then emailed him the files , he them uploads those files into his CNC machine , the magic of the internet

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Yup , when I started with the CAD and 3d printer it was like a mind bomb going off ! Wish I was a kid in school these days , instead of being a no hope dyslexic fool I'd have flown

Re: My racing days Hotshot replica hopefully
This is the power system going in .
The Demon Power King was sold as an 18x2 but when i had a look inside its a 16x2 , i wasn't planning on a motor that hot but now its here , its a bit rough and ready as well but this will be a runner so it'll be fine .
The Super Rooster is mint ! and works perfectly , its also huge ! but that fits with the stuff i was running ,the ESC i ran in the day was a Downsway Turbo Relay , one of the early type FET ESC with a relay for full power as the FET's were not too efficient and it was MAHOOSIVE !

Re: My racing days Hotshot replica hopefully
The correct length rear shocks arrived today so i redesigned the rear mount , I'll cut it from fibre glass now i know it fits .
Comparison with the old taller version .
