Looking at some of my other trucks, I decided to do a little parts swapping.

I swapped the wheels and steering assembly for the hex conversion on my white arm truck. I also took the opportunity to replace some of the turnbuckles and get rid of the yellow ball cups.

The front parts are from a Traxxas Stampede, with a little material removed from the caster blocks. The rear is Factory Works aluminum hexes for the 1/4" axles. I have used this setup for years on the other truck and plan to use the same parts on another.

The truck is sitting on some old Traxxas wheels right now, but I'm thinking that a set of JConcepts Monos should work nicely.

Just a quick update.

I decided against the JConcepts Mono wheels, I just couldn't bring myself to putting a modern looking wheel on a vintage truck. I chose a set of RPM Revolvers instead. I opted for the wide offset, 82063's.

Like all RPM wheels I've used, they are thick. With the Factory Works rear hexes, they don't leave near enough thread for a locknut. I'll be using a serrated nut with a little Locktite. I'm using M4 nut, opened up to 8-32.

Finally got around to throwing some paint on this thing. It has been sitting with a clear body for a while.

The body is a JConcepts F-150. I chose the Tamiya cobalt green because I had a similar colored F-150 many years ago, the wheels were even similar.

I still kinda miss that truck. We got rid of it after hurricane Katrina, when gas was over $5/gal, and the truck got horrible mileage. Someone once asked me why it had two gas tanks, my reply was that it needs them.

Wow! You’ve inspired me to tackle the heap I picked up. I had just about decided it wasn’t worth it but if I can get close to what you’ve done it will be worth it.

Great job!
