Got it all back together and took it for a test run. I think the diff is slipping and was planning to loosen the slipper and maybe tighten the diff. But I decided to run it for a while and just be very gentle on the throttle. It is fast and maybe a little over-geared of over-motored for my track. But, less than a couple of laps into the run the rear bearing on one side self destructed. So its out of commission again and I am back to my same decision.
I did find that the rear bearing carrier of a traxxas slash fits the A-arms perfectly. My dog bones were already pretty worn and I was able to use one of those an a slightly worn traxxas drive shaft to build a shade-tree CVD-ish out drive. Unfortunately, I broke the same part on my Slash the next day. If I continue to run this car, it will likely be with my cobbled up drive shafts and Traxxas style bearing carriers.
BTW, the extra speed plus the inappropriate rear tires plus a lack of oil in the shocks made this thing a challenge to drive. The rebuilt trans made a nice whirl like a new car would at speed. We'll see what the future holds for this vehicle.
