little bit of machining last night.

Some hinge pin detail, I don't have pics of cutting the pins to length, but suffice to say, I used the lathe and a parting tool. I have a DRO on the cross-slide so I can quickly dial in the length needed.

This is a pic of the special tooling I made up, it's a very narrow cutoff blade on a shop made holder, on a quick change tool post. I added a small stop so all I have to do is bring the tool up to the work, lock the slide, plunge cut .015" to cut the e-clip groove. after the process: the inline bellcranks didn't come with shaft nuts, so I made my own. I started with some mcmaster carr standoffs, 5/8 long, #8-32 threads, I forget the hex size, 11/32"? Anyway, saves me some machine time.
Raw part placed on threaded mandrel: after machining to 1/4" OD: quick check to make sure bearings fit: last step is to part off at correct height. I measured the height of the bearings and added .020" for some shims top and bottom so nothing rubs.

I cut my pin grooves using a jeweler's file (very low tech). Your way is MUCH better! Great work!

Quick mockup with b2 .89 shock to see how the tower will work. looks pretty good, I may update the tower with another set of mounting points just above the existing holes.

Yeah, she seems to have ample droop. Is that a Dynotech arm 2701? Do you know if anyone else makes these special length arms? Thanks!

these are not dynotech arms, however, you can purchase dynotech arms and use them as I am doing here. These arms were a limited run by Jake, aka Seabass on this forum. They are essentially the dynotech arms, with a bit of added offset so you don't need to run a wider axle to run a B4 front wheel.

as for other options, no-one that makes an off the shelf machined part besides dynotech. There are quite a number of offerings in the shapeways store for this type of application, however they are 3D printed. So whereas the machined nylon ones are probably indestructible, the 3d printed parts are probably not quite as strong as a stock molded one.

yeah, i've been on this forum for a long time, but only sparingly add build info. figured this one would be ideal to finally give some pictures back. it helps my phone is a lot better and takes nice pictures, much quicker to snap photos as I go along.

been slow going with the holidays, but suspension pins all machined, arms installed and turnbuckles roughly adjusted. Shocks rebuild ready for oil, but doing some mockup and figuring out what the rear shocks limiters will need to be. Roughly staring with 1.32" shock bodies, 1.02" shafts, and 1/4" of limiters. The jake arms also want to have 'offset' bottom spring cups to clear front and rear. I also needed to run the narrow ball ends up front, and out back, rotate them so the 'short' side of the ball is against the arm. little details.

It's not very clear but I'll get a pic later, I also make custom shock bushings up top, they are longer than regular ones, threaded and allow you to run a single nut on the tower(especially in front), I always seem to have clearance problems here, and double up the nut. I hate the way that looks, so these make it look nicer to me.

Looks good so far. Almost ready to get dirty.

OK, snapped a couple pics this morning. not final assembly, but fully mocked up, shock towers are going to changed up slightly (and dyed). I have to change out some hardware to final hardware(some screws are just placeholders) adding shock oil and working on wing mounts and trans brace. couple closeups of shock bushings, and solid nose brace rod. the material is already hard anodized from supplier, and i messed up one of the mounting holes, but no big deal, just flipped it over. Since this is not a show piece by any means, i'm not worried about it.

Yeah, it is amazing how fast my bench(es) get piled up with stuff. I'm always getting ding'ed at work, but that's how it goes when juggling multiple products.
