My only issue with aftermarket axles is some of them had their own special diff rings. You may get an axle, but can you find the diff rings?

There is a new IRS axle on ebay too, but i think they used a D-shaped ring.

I don't remember D-rings on the older stuff, but I do remember some had the pin where you could run notched diff rings. Or just trim the pin off. I remember I had an IRS axle w/ ceramic diff on my Hyperdrive chassis car... That was a good setup and so much better than stock.

you can also fit a regular ring on a D hub, but not the other way around without some grinding if the ID and OD match up.

Ok, I went ahead and contacted AE and they were pretty helpful as indicated.
Basically, I should have the SS which had the narrow rear pod, so the 8501 axle will work…but this a pro-diff style and I will need and extra axle bearing #897 for the spur gear to fit on since it doesn’t have the shelf like the older axles did.

I did look at that 'bay item linked above but only briefly. Was that for two axles? Also I'm not following all this about the diff rings and pins and such. I was just assuming my existing rings and spur would just slide on. I don't remember a pin or notch, but I haven't taken it apart yet either.
Guess I should do that!

Ok, I finally had a minute to do something with these two and not break something...
First an update on the DS, it lives!

I've added a new Flysky receiver, Castle Creations SCT Sidewinder, and a new cheapo servo and boom...

Money shot...


Still have to play with the pinions that I have as I'm not quite getting the punch I was expecting from this setup... wheelies!

As for the pan car, well here is the damage...

Well I pulled the trigger on the AE axle and bearing the AE guy said would work.
Now I just have to wait for it to arrive later this week. Probably will try to post up results in two weeks time when I have some more free time.

New question for you all... where do you find the nicer 190/200mm scale touring bodies? I've checked the 'bay and amazon, but pickings are few and usually too expensive. I'd love to stay with the Porsche GT race style since it would fit the theme of the DS (rear motor). I've also been looking on Tower and a few others but everything there is sold out or on back order. So where are these great bodies that I see in posts?!?

HPI Racing makes some pretty nice bodies, including some really nice looking muscle car ones.

I have one of their 200 mm Honda NSX bodies on my narrow HPI RS-10G (basically the same dimensions as your car) - this one, done up with a Autographics Nascar sticker sheet and some other stickers.

For their older bodies the shop may have to order it directly from HPI. Unfortunately I can't help you with finding a shop because I'm on the wrong side of the world , but HPI do have a shop locator.

LOL... Thanks for that! I didn't look where you were at, so apologies... and your always welcome to visit the "right" side of the world here in warm and sunny Florida!
Yeah, I went through their link and that led me to my local HS, but they don't carry stock since demand for them is really low.
Cost of ordering and shipping is more than if I buy direct elsewhere, if there is any available.
So far, not much out there... oh well! I'll keep looking but if anyone sees anything please let me know!
